Asking MOH and BM

How much before the wedding did you ask your MOH and BMs to be in your wedding?  Did you ask in a special way??

I asked one of the BM about 6-7 months before the wedding.  She came in to town, we had lunch and I asked.

I asked about 10 months out.  Nothing special, just asked.

It's about being asked, not how you ask.

I just asked my sister to be MOH on the phone since she lives halfway across the country and only comes home twice a year.

I bought cards from http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/ (all of my girls are out of town).  They have a million different ones to choose from, and they are all customizable so you can change the insides if they're too cheesy for you.  I also did this for my niece and nephew, who are our FG and RB, and my SIL said my niece thought it was so cool that the message in the card had her name printed right in it!

I asked two weeks ago, so about 8 months out.
