Getting Make Up / Hair Done - How early is too early?

I found a hair / makeup artist I really like, but the only time she is available to get me ready (do my make up and my hair) is at 9am on my wedding day. She said she'd have me done by 11:30am. My wedding pictures start at 3pm, and my wedding ceremony starts at 6:30pm... Is being ready at 11:30am too early?

When she did the trial the makeup and hair lasted until I removed / undid them about 3 hours later (I had to do it because I didnt want my fiance t see) and I believe they wouldve lasted longer if they hadnt been removed.

I am just scared of running the risk of not looking perfect on my wedding day! What do I do???

I don't think 3 hours is that long. Do you need to travel to pictures? I assume you'll be getting dressed, etc, after the hair and makeup anyway.

Sorry let me clarify, it will be aprox. 4 hours from the time I'm finished with the hair & makeup until I take the pictures, and then an extra 2 hours until the ceremony starts...

I would ask the hair/makeup artist what she thinks? She probably will be honest if she thinks you should try and find someone else...she will want to keep her name good.  She may have some suggestions of other hair/makeup artists...?

If she thinks it will hold up til your ceremony....maybe you can ask her for a few fresh up tips for your make up just in case you need them....I mean we do our makeup every other day of the year, so we have some capability right?

    Good luck! Smile

Well Luckly my Hair person is also a friend attending the wedding, I will have my hair done for 11am however the ceremony is not until 5pm. We will be doing pictures from 11am - 4pm and then I have asked my firend to come back and touch up everyone's hair..... Would you hair person be able to do something like that for you???

hmm i think i would say at least look for someone else.. i think it would be fine for pics but then later i'm not sure.. i mean i'm not saying it wouldn't last because i have no clue what she's using or what you're having done etc but it probably wouldn't look as fresh by 5pm. pictures are the most important imo since they're only thing that lasts.. but i'd still want to look just done through my ceremony & reception, & the likelihood of your hair & makeup still great 8-12 hours later is kinda ify..

also i don't know how good you are with makeup..? maybe you could ask her what she's using & she could give you samples or you could buy it so you or maybe one of  your maids can touch you up before the ceremony? or see if she could just come back for 10 mins before it starts. that's what i would recommend if you really want to use her.
