hair pins vs bobby pins

Hey ladies.  Maybe I am just clueless - what would be the difference between U-pin hair pins and bobby pins?
Looks at some pretty updo's online that have small pearl or beaded pins scattered over the hair, not sure if the U-pin or bobby pin style would stay better or be more versitile for this type of style?
Help?!?

Re: hair pins vs bobby pins

  • U-pins are spaced farther apart than bobby pins, if that makes sense.  They're more u shaped, like their name indicates and the bobby pins, the "arms" touch each other.

U-pins will help secure a larger amount of hair, such as a bun, where bobby pins hold in the little bits.

I need both for a bun or updo in my hair.

If you have very fine hair, u-pins won't do it alone.

I'd get bobby pins with the decorations, because you can do your entire hairstyle as needed, then insert the bobby pins where you want the sparkle.
