Highlights and Lowlights

I used to have a lot of highlights and lowlights in my hair but a few months ago I died my hair all one color, because I couldn't afford to keep going to a salon to get it redone. I am planning on getting it redone with highlights and lowlights for the wedding.

The problem is I live 12 hours from the stylist that usual does my color. I'm really nervous about going to anyone new, and so I was planning on having it colored in April or May and then again two weeks before the wedding, which is the beginning of August. Do you think this will work? I'm just really nervous that if I put all my eggs in one basket with one stylist and she messes up 2 weeks before the wedding I will have a major breakdown. Advice please!

Re: Highlights and Lowlights

  • I would look in your local board or on yelp for a new stylist.  Honestly traveling 12 hours for hair seems a little excessive to me, but I do understand where your coming from.  If you find someone new soon, you can go to them once or twice before your final wedding coloring and you'll be more comfortable.
  • Are you planning on going too far from what your current shade is? If not, you won't have too much to worry about.

Also, contact the girl you normally use and ask if she can send your your color sheet - colorists will write down what mix of color/bleach they use on your hair so that when you come in for a touch up, they know what to mix. She'd probably understand that you need to go to someone new and would give you the info.

If you do look for someone new, find recommendations for a good COLORIST, not just a good stylist. There can be a difference.
