Mary Kay Question

What is your experience with Mary Kay cosmetics? I sadly had to discontinue use due to a very bad skin reactionand i haven't been able to find something with the same amount of coverage without creating a fondant look on my face. :( I was using the mineral product line and suddenly it started breaking me out horribly, I tried the cleansers but they were too strong for my sensitive skin. Could it have been an issue with the product being exposed to direct sunlight? does it expire?

Re: Mary Kay Question

  • So sorry to hear of your experience. I’m a consultant & Mary Kay products have a 3 year shelf life. The only thing that really expires is the SPF. So products like the Day Solution or the TimeWise Moisturizer with SPF 30. We have 4 different product lines that vary upon your age & skin condition. So perhaps the last one you tried just wasn’t right for your skin. You can call your consultant and ask to try a different line or formulation.
  • everyone is diff - i had a very bad reaction to a free MK facial at a home party  my SIL had- it was only on the face wash part  and my skin felt like it was on fire, i was in tears and needed cold compresses... the poor consult. had to call her up line, she was new and my reaction was no way typical- i am very pale but my skin is not sensitive and it caught all of us by surprise - i now stay away from all of their products  but that is just me- I would say see if you can find a local consultant and i am sure she can test a few of the current lines on you - i personally now just use sunscreen  and go with out makeup or use Bare Minerals

  • I am an MK user.  The only thing that has ever bothered me was the day solution that is the part of the miracle set.  For the most part, I love their producs but I don't have sensitive skin.
  • Thank you ladies for the input. @ East, I had a reaction like this but that was when i tried the miracle set, i have horribly dry sensitive skin though. @Rlavach, I'll contact a consultant in my area, maybe she can suggest something different.

    thanks again. :)
  • Definitely contact a MK consultant for another complimentary facial.  There's a new botanical effects line out that's more suited for sensitive skin.
  • Wow its sounds like something you probably should not go back to. I represent a different skin care makeup line so I wont say anything about my products but you should definitely try a different brand that has not had reactions to your skin. Maybe go to Ulta and ask for their help or even Macys or one of those big stores with all the skin care and makeup lines around. Mary Kay is basic cheap stuff but if you want something that will work well, at least just for before your wedding day, go with one of the prestige high end lines of skincare, there is a reason they are not cheap.
