Black nail polish? XP

Is anyone else wearing or considering wearing black nail polish or black accents on their nails? My dress is white with black embroidery and 90% of the time, I wear black nail polish anyway. Opinions?

Re: Black nail polish? XP

  • I'm not considering wearing black, but I might wear a dark-ish purple. I usually wear dark nail polish just because it's fashionable these days, but I'm not matching it to my wedding colors at all.

I'll probably end up going with a lighter shade and maybe getting the darker on my toes since I don't want to look at the wedding pictures in 20 years and say how crazy I was for having my nails painted so dark. (I'm just guessing that it won't be cool in 20 years, who knows, haha)
  • I am getting married in black as is my futuer hubby BM and GM, Go for the black. if you want something different, do black with a white design or white/diamond accents.

  • If its something you would normally wear AND goes with the style of your wedding, then I say go for it!

If your wedding is SUPER FORMAL though, I might do something a little more subtle.
  • If black says what you want it to, DO IT!

  • Personally, I don't like black nail polish at all, and I definitely wouldn't wear it for my wedding.

However, this is YOUR wedding, and if you want to wear black nail polish, then by all means!  I'm sure if will look great on you.
  • Id say go for it!  I am wearing bright red nail polish!  I hate the traditional french manicure that most girls get.

  • I suggest instead of getting pink and black manicure get black and pink (acrylic nails). Its literally how I wear my nails year round and will be wearing at my wedding in january.
  • If it makes you feel the most like yourself, go ahead and wear the black nailpolish.  However, I would be concerned that when the photographers do closeups of your newly-ringed hands after the ceremony, the dark nail polish will overpower your rings and distract from the focus of the photo.
  • I say go for it!

  • Hey, if you love it do it! Personally? I like dark nails on occasion, but I would hesitate to wear dark polish on my wedding day.

You might love it now, but in 20 or 30 years you might regret going with such a bold, trendy choice. Just think it over and go with your gut :)
  • With a plain white dress I wouldn't do it, but with a black accented dress I think it would look cool!

I'm planning on just clear polish or a soft pink, but I have a white and silver dress.
  • I think you could do a black and white manicure.  I wouldn't go all black though.  Maybe some black fancy swirlys and small rhinestones?  My aunt did that once and it looked great.  I think if you did black and white elegantly on your nails, it would be fine.
  • If it goes with your wedding, by all means go for it! You could also look at doing, as PPs have suggested, some fun manicures that include black but not necessarily all black if you wanted something a little fancier.
My wedding colours are red and black. I posted this on your other thread but I'll post it here too incase you see it here sooner :)
I am opting for a slightly altered french manicure for mine... just because that's what I happen to like and it fits my theme.
  • Go with what makes you happy! I always wear dark colors (except for summer).  I'm still figuring what do for my fall wedding, but go with what you feel most comfortable with and what says YOU!
