    Ooo, good thread!

DH and I met at a bar.  :)  We are both Aggies and it was a monthly Happy Hour.  We hit it off right away!  But it took him until the next month's HH to actually ask me out.

We worked at the same company but in offices about an hour away from each other.   He used to call me to chat all the time and would volunteer to come work at my location if we were short handed.

Back then, I thought he was a nice guy but kind of a dork.  Haha.

    We met online at plentyoffish.com...

We chatted and talked on the phone...then he invited me for dinner. That is when we met in person... we were nervous but when he hugged me I felt so much peace! I think that did it!  We have been together 1 year and 10 months!!!

Andrew and I met in a bar (I know, sad...) but we knew about eachother before we ever met!  He casually dated a co-worker of mine, but when we met, we just hit it off.  He got my phone number (and my roommates, because he was trying to look cool and like he wasn't hitting on me).  He ended up immediately deleting my roommate's number and called me that night... come to find out we lived one block from eachother!!  Like literally... my apartments backed up to his back fence... so weird.

    The rest is history!

I love this story! Courts was at the coffee shop with a friend of his, and she was showing him pictures from her birthday party. Well, this person turned out to be an acquaintance/drinking buddy of mine, so I was in the pictures. Courts saw a picture of me laughing and decided he wanted to meet me. So the friend called me that afternoon, and we met that night. And we've been together ever since!

We met in graduate school.  We both worked for a financial counseling program at Tech.  We actually didn't start dating until I had already graduated and lived in Dallas.  He moved to Dallas after he graduated to be with me.  Awe.  :)

We met at the SUB (student union building) at Tech back in 06. I was in there on my way to the library to meet up with a group for a project (the library was litterally right next door 20 feet away) and I was holding some things for my project and texting at the same time. It was passing period so I was going down the little ramp by the bookstore when I ran into him and spilt the stuff I was holding. We appologized to eachother and he immidately picked up my books and papers for me. We started talking and traded numbers. I was like ok he's a nice guy....be good to have friends outside my co-ed frat and work. Hung out with him and his friends for a month or so inbetween just some hanging out time just the two of us (non dating). He kept asking me on a date and I kept rejecting him (till my MOH told me to go-I wasn't looking for dating anyone at the time). I went. After a few dates I started to really get interested in him...plus he met my X which that night was horrible...but anyways about a month later he kissed me for the first time on my doorstep when I was 1/2 sleep. From then on, I knew he was not like the other guys. Here we are almost 4 years later engaged! :)

It's funny how things work out. He wanted to go to A&M for meterology but sent his application in late. So he went to Tech (which makes more sense since he is from Lubbock). If things didn't blow up with a physco path room mate at UNT, I wouldn't have transferred out to Tech...meaning we would have never met.

We met while we both worked at the Friday's at Northpark.  I thought he was really shy at first and I was super talkative.  We went out shortly after he quit working there and really hit it off.

FI and I met at a Labor Day Pool Party at my Parent's House 2 years ago.  (I lived next door to the 'rents before FI & I purchased house together.)  He works at the same Kenworth Facility as my brother and my brother had invited him.  I had just broken up with a BF of a year and half, so I wasn't looking.  But the night went on and we hit it off.  We stayed up all night talking before we knew it the sun was coming up and before he left we exchanged numbers.  I wasn't expecting anything but later that night I received a text: "Had a wonderful time hanging out with you.  When can we do it again?"  We haven't been apart since.

I met Ben at a bar in 2005.  I never go to bars but I was out with friends from out of town and in someone else's car.  One of my friends found him shooting hoops outside.  There were about 8 of us and we all thought he was so cute we all took pictures with him.  So I have a pic from the night we met.

Nothing happened that night.  I never thought I'd see him again, but by chance we met up again at SXSW in 2006, got to talking, and he finally convinced me to go out with him in June 2006.  The rest is history!

ETA:  Oh, and our first date was dinner and then drinks at the Melrose where we talked for hours.  We got married there 3 years later!

Ah I remember when the SUB was called the UC (University Center)...

FI and I met on match.com. I had experienced a LOT of bad dates before meeting him, to the point that I'm really considering writing a book, so I was very skeptical and it took some convincing. Anyways we both lived in Addison so we finally decided to meet up for a drink at Zen in the circle. Well a drink led to us walking around the circle and talking for hours. I knew he was the one that night when he took my hand as we were crossing the street. I just felt protected and it felt as if we had known each other for years

Chris was one of my sisters good friends and I thought they would look cute together so I started talking to him on AIM  to set them up. (this really shows that this was 10 years ago, back when AIM was so cool...LOL)  Well it turned out that he liked me and she just wanted to be friends so we just started dating from there.

This is fun, great stories ladies!!

We met at work!  He actually started working in my group a couple yrs after I came to work here and he sat 3 cubicles down from me. We started chit chatting when we split from our exes. Then we started casually dating, hid it from our entire group for a few months and finally let the news slip!! Come to find out though, pretty much everyone knew!  LOL  He no longer works at the company though and we've been together ever since!  YAY  Smile

Great stories!! Megan -- the first part of your story is like a movie!

Jeff and I met through a youth leader in Chicago. Jeff's parents were looking of him and my uncle was the advocate for me. I have the youth leader my email and he gave it to Jeff. By the time I got home from the wedding I had three emails regarding Jeff. We talked by email for two weeks, had our first date, he left for Ireland the next day, when he got back we went on a second date, and the rest is history. We are getting married on our 2 year anniversary.

We met in high school, but did not begin dating until the summer after I graduated high school and was getting ready to go to A&M.  That summer, Ashton had just come home from his freshman year at A&M, heard from his mother I'd be going there in the fall....and the rest is history!  :)

FI and I met walking home from Junior High School. We became really good friends and started dating in High School (2002). We dated long distance while I was at Tech getting my bachelor's and master's degrees and now, 9 years later, we're planning our wedding!

DH lived on my dorm floor freshman year.  We first started chatting online over a message board the school put up for incoming freshman.  We instantly became friends when I met him on campus, and we were best friends through all four years of college. Both of us totally missed the hints we started dropping sophomore year about being interested in each other, so we didn't start dating until the last week of our senior year, at which point our friends were very relieved to see we'd figured it out.  We got married three years later.

I love reading everyone's stories!!  They're so sweet.

Chris and I met when we were both 7 years old.  My parents always took me and my sister to his mom's house (she ran a home daycare) for their date night.  Chris and I did not get along at all!  His mom was our babysitter for the next 5 years until we moved to Fort Worth.  FI says he remembers giving me a hug when we went by their house to say goodbye and tried to grab my butt - I don't remember this but it always makes me laugh!
Fast foward 6 years....I started seeing a guy who had just moved to my high school the last semester of senior year.  He asked me and my friend to go with him to see his old friends and yes, one of his old friends was Chris!  I didn't recognize him at all though.  All night I kept thinking "I know I've met this guy somewhere".  He was thinking the same thing about me; we just couldn't figure it out!  When we were little, he was a short, scrawny thing with huge glasses and when I "met" him again he wasn't wearing glasses and wasn't so scrawny anymore!  I didn't realize who he was until we went to his house and I saw his mom.  A few months later we started dating and now here we are!!

Siavash is related  to one of my good friends, and he had moved back to Dallas in fall of 2008 around the same time when I broke up with my ex bf. There were lots of opportunities for us to meet between the time he had moved back to Dallas and when we actually met, as we went to a lot of same Persian events in town but for whatever reason, we never did meet.

But finally on April 4, 2009 we went on a blind date at PF Chang's at Northpark. We were there for 4 hours..everything flowed so smoothly, and we didn't even realize we had been there for so long. We ended up meeting up at  Persian New Year event that was the next day, and he took me around and introduced me to all his relatives that I hadn't met yet through my friend ,which at the time was like whoah dude, I am not ready to meet family yet, but it turned out to be a great thing.

We got engaged 10 months later, and married after our 6 months of being engaged.

aww I love reading these stories!

We met online in a chat room for a band back when we were both 15 and we just became phone and chat pals and stayed in touch for years.  Over the years our conversations grew longer and more in depth.  When we were 19 we both realized we might have feelings for each other that were more than friends and decided to meet (since he lived in TX and I in NE) and it was seriously like meeting someone I knew I was meant to be with.  We did long distance for 2 years then he moved to NE.

All of these stories are soooo cute! I love this thread - good job Brianna!!

Trent and I met one night driving down the road!! We were both on our way back to our respective houses with friends in the car. He honked at us and we followed him a short distance to his house. After chatting for a little while we exchanged phone numbers and went on our official "first date" the next night. He had just graduated HS and I was going into my JR year. That was 8 years ago on that curvy road in Garland...sigh...being married to that man now seems like I have known him forever. I couldn't imagine life without him - we have got each other through so much already!

    This is a great thread!

Our meeting isn't interesting... mutual friends in high school. But what's funny is I never thought we'd last! I was always a logical, practical kid (I mean, I turned down a puppy when I was 6) and I just "knew" high school relationships didn't last. But we ended up going to college together, and never had a good reason to break up. Why end a good thing ya know?

I SHOULD have known he was "the one" when our majors required us to study abroad, and we just couldn't bring ourselves to go to different places. Luckily we were placed in the university. My actual moment of "oh my god, I'm going to marry him" was when we took a weekend trip to London, and went to the wrong airport for our flight back. I was really upset, (lack of sleep) and he took care of everything. I don't exactly know why, but it was definitely a turning point.

Of course, still being logical and practical, I knew I didn't want to get married until after graduation and having a few years to start a career. Nathan insisted we be married by our 10 year anniversary. I didn't think it would happen, but, well, he's getting his way. We will be married 3 months and 2 days before the 10 year mark!

We met on yahoo personals.  I was going out for a friends birthday on a Friday and had some time to waste so I made a profile and then left for the night forgetting about it.  When  I woke up the next morning I had a message from Josh that just said "hi".

We talked for a day or two and decided to go on a date on a wednesday night where I learned that he lived in the same apartment complex as my best friend and he was working on the ghostbusters video game at the time, a game I had been anxiously waiting to come out.

I planned another date for us on saturday and when we meet up he told me we could never spend that many days apart again. And we havent since! Laughing

I love these stories!!! SO sweet :)

Jason and I met at work. We were in different departments at the time, and we would both try to take breaks/lunch around the same time as eachother without trying to be obvious. It didn't really work out to be too stealth for either of us, one of our co-workers caught on and urged him to actually ask me out.
I can't imagine NOT working with him, which a lot of people find odd. We are both debt negotiators, and have a lot of the same contacts across the country, so it will be funny when I change my name to hear what they all have to say :)
I get to hear his voice all day, and we go to lunch together--UGH I love that boy!!
