Went to look at a venue today: Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas.

I really liked it, but I want to check out a few more places before I decide.

They lady said they have been getting tons of people inquiring about weddings recently... I wonder why that is?  She said she had NEVER heard of The Knot.... WOW!

Let me know if you want any info on the venue. Some stuff is on the website. But I got some info that isnt as well.

    I would! Do they allow alcohol? I mean like BYOB.

    They DO allow alcohol!!!  I remember someone mentioning that they might not. But they do.

    Right now they allow any outside catering you want, same with alcohol, as long as they carry insurance.  You have to have a TABC bartender, and an off duty police officer if you have alcohol.
    Their policies are changing after the end of August, at that time you have to use their approved vendors. if you dont you must pay a 10% fee. this applies to bookings after September 1st.
    The cost of the facility isnt bad. The costs are all on the website. It includes the entire building (minus the classrooms) and the outside areas. if you book before September 1st it also includes the tables and chairs that the facility has (square tables, and black plastic chairs).
    I think this is a great venue if you plan on having children at your wedding. They have a little area that has a TV and DVD player, The event coordinator said that we can use that to play kids movies to keep them occupied. Or create a DVD looping pictures or whatever, for the guests. She said if we book before the policies change on September 1st that the use of these electronics is included in the price. After September 1st they are going to charge extra to use these things.

    I think the facility is amazing! the huge windows where the reception will take place is so awesome, and a great Texas prairie woodsy view.

    They actually DONT allow you to BYOB. You have to go through your caterer or a bar service. I am having my wedding there and am dealing with this now. They had to change their rules to make sure someone has insurance coverage for alcohol, which they do not. We're hoping my caterer will be able to get the insurance, but that's the only way to bring in alcohol. So it's up to your caterer if they will take the liability for you to bring in alcohol and have their bartenders serve it, and then they might charge you for it.

    Tell me, what made you sign on the dotted line?  Where did you hear of this place?

    I love that you can use any caterer. And I love the building, and the Native Texasness (i know, this isnt a word :P) of the land.

    If anyone has had a wedding here at Triniy River please email me!! Ijust want some pictures of how you set tables up and jlso what you thought of the entire night? Would you do it over again at the same venue?? I am in love with this place but I havent seen any pictures of any real weddings here which scares me..

    Can someone email me pics to if you had your ceremony here. I'm not so much concerned for the reception as how am I going to get 100+ persons in their butterfly garden for a ceremony!
