Groom Gift Conundrum...

So I've been thinking about what to get my fiance for our wedding. I really, really don't want to get him a watch- he has a million, and getting him another one would be rather meaningless. (It's just be ANOTHER watch.) I realize there are other traditional gifts out there, but I was hoping to do something untraditional.
As I've been thinking about this, the weather has been getting nicer, and we've been going out on his bike more often. (He has a Yamaha cruiser, and it's his baby, lol.) We really love riding together, and so I was thinking of getting him saddle bags for the bike, perhaps with our wedding date stitched on them.
He's wanted saddle bags for a while; they'd be really useful; they're something that would be meaningful. From everything I've read about what makes up a good wedding gift between a bride and groom, the last bit of criteria is the most important.
...So... does anyone have any thoughts? Do you think this would be really inappropriate or tacky or... ???
I mean I know most gifts that are exchanged are fancy-schmancy, but... I dunno.
Any advice would be good. :)

  • This doesn't have to be the Most Perfectest Gift Ever.  It's just a gift.  If he'll like the saddle bags, get them.  Don't overthink.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. • It sounds like you really know what your FI likes, which is awesome! (I'm still stumped as to what to get my FI, he's the guy who has everything lol)

I say go for it and get him the saddle bags, but I think stitching the wedding date on them is a bit much, to be honest. If your heart is really set on stitching the wedding date on them, I'd do it some place inconspicuous, like on the inside of the flap or something. But, that's just me.

  • I should add that we didn't even exchange wedding gifts, we decided to just save the money so we'd have more to play with on the honeymoon.

  • we aren't exchanging gifts either, unless FI lands a really awesome job before then! But before FI lost his last one, I had a set of golf clubs picked out...not fancy, but something he really wants, so saddle bags will be a great gift!
