wagon used in wedding ceremony for little girl?

Hi all,
I am getting married this April and someone suggested the idea to have my 9 month old little girl come down the aisle in a wagon with my flower girl (7yrs old), and one of my brides maid who would be making sure they make it down the aisle ok. Have any of you done this before and if so did it work out well? i really liked the idea. If we did it i would buy a little seat part if the wagon didnt come with one. My daughter can sit up really well and loves to ride in things like strollers, shopping carts etc...

Sorry but I really don't like the idea.  There is too great of a chance of the wagon tipping and injuring your 9 month old.  Just have a bridesmaid carry her.

  • My cousin did it at her wedding. It came off really well. Lots of "ah, how cute." The baby sat with her mother during the ceremony.
  • I love the idea... just have to make sure the one pulling knows wat they are doing. All my nieces and nephews will be old enough to walk down the isle and sit with grandma and grandpa and their dad if they dont want to stand.
  • I attended a wedding a couple years ago in which the B&G's kids were pulled down the aisle in a wagon. The best man pulled the wagon and the MOH walked beside it. The little girls were four and one at the time.

  • I'm with CMGr.  I understand wanting to have your daughter be involved,  but putting her on display in a wagon that could tip is not the way to do it.  She may be a calm baby, and she may love riding in other wheeled things, and she may have a seat "just to be sure", but the truth is that you never know how a child that small will react to new settings.  All it takes is one wrong movement to tip the whole thing.  If you want her involved and come down the aisle in some way, let someone carry her.
  • We were going to do this with our son.. He will be 21 months when we get married, and changed our mind, because I was worried about the wagon tipping because our nephew would be pulling it. I would honestly just have someone carry your daughter down the aisle, unless the person pulling the wagon is an adult and for sure wouldnt tip.
But by alll means include her, I couldnt imagine not having our son be our ringbearer, it would be strange not to.
NO child cares about your wedding..so by what a few pp have said NO children should be involved no matter what their age. I didnt understand what was happening when my own parents got married (I was very young) but NOW as an adult im happy that they included me in the wedding. :)
  • thanks for the feedback all! its nice to get some different views outside of my own..and of course through all of this my childs safety comes first :)
  • where casn I find a wagon used or new. I'm in NJ
