Help! Please.. 18 days away MOH dressless

My MOH & I picked out a dress. I really wanted her to be able to pick her own dress so the two of us sat down and picked out the dress. We both loved it. Yet, she forgot to order the dress. I guess she thought that she could just "go buy it" but she cant. The dress we picked takes at least 12 weeks to get in but we only have 18 days until our destination wedding, and we are leaving in 15 days. What the hell do I do? We are having a small cermony, only a Best Man and a MOH. We picked the vests and everything to coordnate with her dress. Now she has no dress!

The first dress was the same color shown. I also called stores around the area they said they cant get it for at least 6 weeks. They offered to sell the floor samples but they are size 12 and she wears a size 2.

At this point, your only hope is to get to a store and buy something off the rack that coordinates. Check out stores in the mall or David's Bridal. Bring a swatch of the color so that you can try and match it as best you can.

If she's your only attendant then she can just go to a regular clothing store or a department store and pick out anything in your desired color, and walk out with it that day. David's Bridal, Group USA and prom stores like Windsor and Deb have a variety of dresses to choose from. Hell, even thrift stores or a place like Marshall's/TJ Maxx probably have something suitable.

If she can't find someting in that particular color, then she can get a neutral color like black, cream, latte, silver or gold. Neutrals go with any color scheme. If you're concerned about the color scheme, call the tux place and see if you can change the vests to black or silver (which I am betting most guys would like better than yellow anyway).

Relax. I understand being peeved that she didn't order the dress on time, but panicking won't do you any good. Especially because she's the only bridesmaid ... as long as you're not horribly picky, she can go to a local mall and walk out with a dress in a couple hours. This is not something to go to pieces over. It's a dress that she's going to wear for a few hours for one day of your life ... it's not worth making a mad scramble to find the "perfect" outfit. Get something that looks nice and that she feels good wearing, and you're all set.

I think it is a much bigger deal than a few hours. These pictures will last forever. It HAS to be a yellow dress & it has to be formal.

If it must be a very formal dress, as others have suggested, your best bet is to check out David's Bridal, prom stores, as well as department stores like Macy's.

Just calm down. The only options you have right now are either finding the dress on eBay and ordering it ASAP (you'd still have uncertainty over the fit and condition of the dress) or getting one off the rack. Luckily it is coming into prom season right now so she should have a lot of choices in formal dresses. Even if the prom stock isn't in yet, most department stores have formal dresses year round. If she can't find a yellow dress that she likes, try to get as close as you can and just let it go. It's really not that big a deal.

When looking back at your wedding pictures the last thing you'll probably care about is that your friend wasn't wearing the original dress you picked.

If you can find a reliable seamtress...maybe you can have the dress made. A dress like that can be turned around in a few days.

    Best of luck.

You are over-reacting to this situation. Yes, it sucks that she did not buy the dress you picked out, but this problem is fixable. Since you are only having a MOH, let her go to a store and pick a dress to wear. Tell her you would prefer something close to the style and color that you selected first, but you understand if she can't find it. Give her some backup choices as far as color, like black, beige, silver, or gold in case the yellow is not available.

Truly, this is not the end of the world. This is so fixable without stress. It is just a dress. This is not worth putting a rift in your friendship because you want perfect pictures.

...wow. Take a chill pill and do what we've all suggested. Send her to someplace to find a formal, off the rack dress.

Obviously the Alfred Angelo dress is out, unless you can find it on ebay and want to take a chance on buying it there. You may have to settle for something else. Your marriage, I assure you, will still be valid.

I understand being upset and frustrated, but you really need to calm down about it. Ordering that exact dress is clearly out of the question, so unless you want to be making massive road trips to the multiple states and Alfred Angelo stores trying to find that exact dress, I would settle for another color.

If she is the only one wearing the dress, it is fine to wear a different shade of yellow or even black or brown and wear a yellow sash. It is rare that BMs and GMs wear the IDENTICAL shade of a color, because every designer is different. And unless they are dating and/or married they probably won't be that close to eachother to compare the 2 colors that much.

Nobody is telling you that you need to just go pick a cotton sundress in any color from Target. But we are saying you need to relax and just be willing to compromise a bit here. Yes, your pictures might be there forever, but I guarantee in 5 years when you look at them you aren't going to say "man I wish she had sunflower yellow instead of sunburst yellow."

Well, I've been married a year and I have my photos and not everything looked exactly like I hoped it would and I'm still quite happy with my wedding and my life.

BUT, what the hell do I know? I'm only married already.

That's absolutely your right to want her in a yellow formal dress, but be aware that you're probably going to make this 100 times more stressful and complicated than it'd be if you just went with the flow a bit. Not saying that you should completely count out looking for a formal yellow dress, but it won't ruin your wedding to say, "You know, we've looked in this mall for three hours and we can't find it, so how about we get a neutral-colored formal dress instead?"

But if you want to run around like mad to find The Perfect Dress™, check out the suggestions that have already been made.

    OP, Chill.

You got great suggestions now take them.

In other words, get off of TK and start researching an alternative. Your wedding is 18 days away and sitting here complaining without taking suggestions is cutting down the already limited time you have.

Boy are you overthinking this. You wanted a dress. She didn't get it. She's your only attendant. So she can get another dress. She can probably even get a yellow dress.

But seriously, what if the dress doesn't match the vest? What is the worst that can happen? Your ceremony will be busted up by the Wedding Fashion Police? Your marriage will be declared null and void?

I think that you really need to calm down, or you're going to completely implode by the time your wedding gets here. My recommendation is a warm tub and a cold Cosmopolitan.

Ditto MNIN I don't find that Alfred Angelo dress to be very formal. I don't get why you can't just search for yellow halter dresses and find one. This doesn't have to be the big deal you're making it out to be.

Here you go, and it comes in yellow:

Hell they might even have it in the store and she can buy it off the rack. This is just so not the thing to be worrying about when your wedding is 18 days away.

David's Bridal has a Canary color very similar to the Alfred Angelo. Then you could add a simple ribbon like the green in the picture.

Also try various department stores: Nordstrom, Macy's , JC Penney for yellow dresses. I'm sure this is causing you major stress since its so close to the date. Just remember to breath.

I don't know much about alterations, but if you're set on that dress, how much more would it cost to buy the 12 and have someone alter it down to a 2? I've heard it's WAY easier to take a dress down than size it up. It should just involve removal of panels, and shouldn't take very long if you go to a tailor.

OP, this is what a formal yellow dress looks like: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/laundry-by-shelli-segal-beaded-chiffon-halter-gown/3143865?origin=category&resultback=370

if it doesn't have to be halter top, this dress at David's has a similar "feel" to the Alfred Angelo one: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Sleeveless-Satin-Dress-with-Scoop-Halter-Neckline-81594_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Shop-By-Color
and would probably look super cute with a belt like the Alfred Angelo one.

If you want to ruin your day over this, that's your choice... but you ARE the one ruining your day over it and no one else.

Good thinking. I like this idea.
If she's the only one in this dress it's not too too big of a deal. Frustrating yes, but nothing to panic over. If you can't get her dress at another Alfread Angelo location, David's usually has a lot you can buy off the rack. The Limited has a line of bridesmaids dresses now too.And in yellow.
