[QUOTE]Barbieee, my husband wore a horrible rust-colored polyester leisure suit with bell-bottoms for his first wedding in 1975.  The picture is hilarious.  His ex is wearing an awful "Little House on the Prairie" style white dress with huge ruffles.

<div>That sounds so awful and yet secretly wonderful and funny. My parents got married in the 80's... so it is a lot of big hair, neon blush and those powder blue tuxedos... they actually had matching blue cummerbunds and bow ties.</div>

  • Hey guys ...thanks for all your advice.  I'm going to call the bride this weekend casually bring up the dress issue.  I'm going to go with the "I don't think those dresses are going to work for the big chested girls" line.    I'll keep everyone posted on how everything goes.
  • I would play the whole "with this much going on in the dress I'm concerned it might distract from you" card and mention what I can afford. Hopefully then she will look for something more affordable with less dead peacock tail going on.
  • Good Lord, Jillsky! Those dresses look like they've been slashed with a weedwacker at the bottom. I would definately tell her that you are thinking "something more conservative" or something else along those lines.
  • Hey everyone,

I talked to the bride this weekend and I think changing her mind of these dresses is going to be more difficult than I thought.  We were talking and catching up in general when the topic of her wedding came up.  I told her I had been thinking about it and I didn't think that those dresses were going to work for the larger chested girls.  She proceeded to tell me that the bridal salon said that they could alter the dresses with thicker straps if necessary.  I did ask if we were trying on other dresses and not just those two and she did say yes.

I'm just hoping the other dresses we are trying on are completely different from these two.
