Wedding Party

Wedding Party Groupings

Hi ladies! My FI has 6 guys in his party - 5 GM and 1 BM. I have 5 girls in my party - 3 BM and 2 MOH. We both wanted these specific people in our wedding party and did not want to add or not include people just to make it even. We will most likely have all of the guys up front at the start of the ceremony, and the girls will walk down the aisle individually. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how we should pair the girls and guys for the recessional and reception intros/entrances? TIA!

Re: Wedding Party Groupings

  • Well, you could have the best man escort both the MOHs, and two of the GM escort 2 bridesmaids each for the recessional.  As for the reception, I'd just let everyone walk in casually-I don't see that anyone other than you or your FI need an "entrance" there.

If the best man escorts both MOH, the remaining wedding party will be 5 GM and 3 BM, not the other way around.  These are the two options I was considering for the recessional: MOH/GM/MOH, GM/BM/GM, GM/BM/GM, GM/BM.  Or, MOH/GM/MOH, GM/BM, GM/BM, GM/BM, GM/GM.  Would it be weird to have two GM walk next to each other?

Also, we are definitely doing bridal party intros.  In our group of friends/family, at weddings there have always been intros/entrances for the parents, bridal party, and B&G.  We all get really into coming up with a fun entrance (my FI did a cartwheel as his entrance for the last wedding he was a GM in!) and we want to have this at our wedding as well.  I'm more concerned with the pairings due to the entrance/intro since the spotlight will be on them for that.

Oops, got mixed up a bit.  What I had in mind was if the best man escorts both MOHs, the remaining wedding party could walk as GM/BM/GM, GM/BM/GM, GM/BM.  That way, nobody walks alone.
  • We had the same thing, 4 total in each party, but I had 2 MOH's (my sisters) and he had 1 BM. The way I made it 'fair' was to have one sister walk up with the best man, other sister walk up with a groomsmen. I flip flopped them for the wedding party intros at the reception. So the OTHER sister was introduced with the best man.
It worked out well, and the processional and recessional were all pairs of 2.

You could do a weave (BM/GM/BM/GM...) on the way out, and have them all walk individually.  Although your idea works fine too, and there's nothing wrong with two guys walking out together.  I had two ladies walk out together.  (Not arm and arm, just next to each other.)

With the reception you could have them walk in individually, or with their dates or s/os.  Although if you have only one or two coming single, walking with dates might not be a great plan.
  • Best will be that you should pair one boy one girl to escorts the MOH. Dressed all the girls and boys neatly so they look good for recessional and reception.
