WPBP of the day

Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think?

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding?

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason?

Have you ever caught the bouquet?

• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think? No. I have even been to weddings in the backyards of houses that have dogs and they weren't allowed outside while all the guests were present.
What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? Either the food, the music, or the dress.
Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? No I've never been demoted.
Have you ever caught the bouquet? When I was 10.

• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think? No but I have been to 2 where there were goldfish as centerpieces. I thought it was gross and I even saw a few guys get drunk and swallow a few, nasty.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding?Bad food.
Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason?
No, I was asked to stand so the bride could have even numbers and my FI was a GM so she wanted all couples. I still wish I had said no.
Have you ever caught the bouquet? I try to avoid it usually (or be out of the room all together) FI's cousin had planned for me to catch it at her wedding but apparently no everyone got the message and I got hip-checked by a guest.
• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think? Nope, never seen it in real life.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? The food. I'm usually starving and when I have to eat bad food it just makes everything else seem so much worse. I'm grumpy when I'm hungry.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? Nope.

Have you ever caught the bouquet? If you call it landing on my head catching it, then yes. It hit part of a tray ceiling and literally feel on us and me, being the tallest by a good 4 inches, meant it landed right on the top of my head.

• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think? Yes. I thought it was cheesy. I love my cat more than almost everyone I know, but I would never include her in the ceremony.
What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? Food. Time gaps - when you have to wait two hours for the B&G to get to the reception and you're starving and the appeteasers are all gone.
Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? I've never even been a BM, but I have a feeling I will be a PITA if I ever am one. 'What the heck is this orange satin number you want me to spend $300 on? I don't think so.'
Have you ever caught the bouquet? When I was eight.

Yeah, there is nothing cute/adorable or whatever about fish at a wedding. The BM's had to run around to the tables to grab the fish and let them go in a nearby pond.
• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think?
Our friends had their dog in the wedding. It was cute.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding?
Depends on what made the wedding bad. I've been to one where I had to stand in grass in my heels. In other words, I sank into the grass all night long.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason?
No, none of my friends are that rude.

Have you ever caught the bouquet?
A couple times.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? I guess whatever was wrong with it. You saw the few but valid complaints I had from my cousin's wedding, but I'm not a huge complainer anyway...
Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? Nope
Have you ever caught the bouquet? The only weddings I've been to I've been married, so I wasn't in the "single ladies" pool to catch it.

Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think?
Have never seen it in a wedding. But when I worked at Commerce, customers were allowed to bring their dogs inside the bank ... and it always annoyed me. On more than one occassion, they'd pee (Or worse) on the floor. And then there were people who's dogs tried to bite people ... and then just laugh about it saying "Oh, she's really a sweetheart, she just hates strangers"-ok, crazy person, then don't bring your dog around strangers! Whenever anybody asks about including their dog in the WP, all I think about is everything the dogs did at the bank.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding?
I usually will let a lot of things slide as far as "Well, that's just their taste" ... but the 2 main things are very basic greivances. 1) Bad food. I don't care what kind of food you serve-so you can give me finger foods, have a buffet, only serve cake and punch and I won't judge ... but it better be good: hot foods need to be hot, cold foods need to be cold, meat shouldn't be fatty and cake shouldn't be dry. 2) If I'm opening my wallet for any reason other than the bartender wanting to see some ID, I've got an issue. I never carry cash on me anyway, so if I'm even being charged for soft drinks and water (Which I've never experienced, but I've heard of), I'm going to be pissed ... and leaving early.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason?
I was never demoted. But I was in a WP where another BM was kicked out and replaced. Booted girl was kicked out because she told the bride she only had enough money for 1 round trip (Airfare, hotel accomodations, rental car, etc) between NJ and FL ... so she couldn't come dress shopping and attend the wedding. It was a dress that could have been ordered at a shop in FL or online, but bride insisted everybody be in the same store and order dresses at the same time, so she kicked her out. The bride even told the replacement "I asked you because Jane couldn't fly in from Florida to order dresses with everybody else". This is the bride that pretty much nobody stayed friends with post-wedding.

Have you ever caught the bouquet?
Nope ... I've only participated in the toss once (And that was at BSC bride's wedding-where she made me, because "being engaged doesn't count") ... and I barely participated. I stood in the back while 2 girls literally beat the crap out of each other for it.

• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think?
I haven't, but I think it is a terrible idea. I know too many people with allergies, and too many people with horribly behaved pets who think their pet is just soooo precious. Which they are, when they aren't jumping up with muddy pawprints to greet you. I love my dog, but you never know when he could decide he is overwhelmed by the crowd and decide to sit his 80 pound body on Great Aunt Mary's lap. Leave the pets at home.
What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? Not necessarily the food, but the food situation-- having to wait forever to eat, not having enough food left for everyone, or being rushed. I went to a wedding where the brides grandparents actually ended up at the last table allowed to go up to the buffet, and when they got there, it was bare bones-- the wedding had 300 people! Also, I went to a wedding where the buffet was in a seperate room, but they had it closed before the bridesmaids even got up to get their food-- I had to stop a server and have them bring food out for my FSIL and her 2 year old daughter because otherwise they wouldn't have eaten. Then, they cut the cake... and no one ever saw it again. Not one guest had a piece because they left it in another room and never told anyone you had to come get it.
Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? Nope, I would never do anything to provoke someone like that, and I would hope none of my friends are that nuts.

Have you ever caught the bouquet? Just as a kid. I generally avoid that game. I won't be tossing it at my wedding either.

• Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think? No, I'm not friends with crazy people.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? Cash bar or crappy food.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? No, though my sister did "kick me out" of her WP at like 11pm the night of the wedding after I stepped on her dress for th 5th time. Obviously it didn't have any real effect and she's embarrassed now that she snapped. I give her a pass because she was SO SICK that day. Poor girl.

Have you ever caught the bouquet? Yes, twice! I caught the bouquet at my sister's wedding July 2009 and at a cousin's wedding July 2008. And now we're getting married July 2011. :)

Love the questions today, Stina!

MEG! I worked at Commerce too and had the same issues. Did you ever do a grand opening where Mrs. Hill brought HER yappy little dog and let it go on everything? UGH! After I worked there I worked for a company that built them for a while, and you would sit on conference calls with her and hear that yapper through the whole thing. Gross. And I love dogs.

EDIT: Spelling.

DOUBLE EDIT: I actually have a picture of someone with a giant cockatoo parrot thing (sorry, I definitely don't know birds) sitting on their shoulder while they are in the teller line doing a transaction. It was awkward. I don't know why people think it is appropriate to take their pets EVERYWHERE.

Have you ever been to a wedding where there was an animal in the ceremony? If so, what did you think?
No.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding?
Depends on what it was that I thought was so bad. Usually, it had something to do with the bride wearing an expensive dress and then having a cash bar with really bad food.

I've also had to wait 4 hours between ceremony and reception so that pictures could be taken (groom fired the photographer in the middle of the reception because he kept getting in the guests way or telling them to get out of his shot)

I also went to one that had to have cost $100,000 and looked like it was straight out of a bridal magazine. Everything was textbook and so pretentious is was bad. I don't think any of the guests enjoyed themselves because it was like we were extras on a schedule for a pretty princess day.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason?
No. I'm only close to people for whom friendship means something. I will say though that I've stepped in to be a bridesmaid after another dropped out and didn't feel slighted at not having been asked in the first place.

Have you ever caught the bouquet?
Nope. Cousin has picture of me and another cousin standing there with our arms crossed as the bouquet went right over our heads and a third cousin airborne and headed straight for a ficus so that she could catch it.

I never did an opening, but I've heard so many stories about Mrs. Hill's awful dog. You'd think for people that owned a bank and Burger King, they could have afforded some obedience school for it!

I knew a girl that worked in another branch that had a dog allergy. Several times she tried to protest the policy to management, even brought in doctor's notes saying she shouldn't be around dogs. But they always said "It's not our personal policy, it's the company's policy. And until they change it, you're beat". She eventually quit.

I love dogs, I grew up with [house broken] dogs having free run of the house. I'm clearly not a "dog hater", nor am I afraid of them. But, especially the ones that would try to bite people (And not be reprimanded by their owners) always made me uncomfortable. One customer had a toy poodle that hated strangers, she was more than aware of it ... yet she always put the damn dog on the counter when she did transactions and nobody was allowed to tell her she couldn't. Hello? There is now nothing standing between me and your skittish dog that apparently bites anybody that it doesn't live with! I actually started to go to the bathroom whenever I saw her come in.

She ate the flowers and wouldn't stop sniffing the guests. The junior bridesmaid had to drag the puppy down the aisle. Another wedding used fish as their centerpieces. Wasn't thrilled looking at water with goldfish poop and one table actually had a dead fish!!!

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding?
The food, but the past couple weddings I attended the food was amazing.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason?
Never demoted. I "dropped out" in being a bridesmaid because they were having a destination wedding in the Bahamas. I couldn't afford the travel cost at the time. They came up with this idea 3 months after asking their friends to be in the wedding, so I wasn't the only one who couldn't make it.

Have you ever caught the bouquet?
Yes when I was about 7 years old. I had no idea what was going on. They made sure the ring bearer caught the garter.haha

I've never heard a good story about weddings and fish in the centerpieces. I've also heard about putting betas in the same bowl. Not very romantic.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: WPBP of the day : It's truly amazing what people will physically fight over...did they think that getting the bouquet would automatically get them a husband? If they were like that, I'd feel sorry for the guys...

Ok, do you want to hear the really bizarre part of that story? Of course you do: The girl that eventually "won" was a lesbian ... who was there with her girlfriend.

Girlfriend did not participate in the garter toss (I don't really know why she would have), so a guy "won" and had to put the garter on her.

Girl who caught the bouquet after it's all over, drags the girlfriend out to the parking lot and proceeds to scream at her for 20 minutes because she (girlfriend) "let a man touch her"(bouquet catcher). Like she wanted the girlfriend to get jealous and make an ass out of herself.

This is another one of those times that I really wish I was making this all up.

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? I haven't really been to a bad wedding... I think it would depend on what made it bad.

Have you ever been demoted as a bridesmaid? If so, what was the zilla's reason? Never been asked to be a bridesmaid at all.

Have you ever caught the bouquet? Nope. FI didn't want me anywhere near the bouquet before we got engaged, lol

What is the first thing you complain about to others when you went to a bad wedding? Temperature inside the reception hall, lack of cake or disappointing cake, time I had to wait between ceremony, or terrible music.

We went to a wedding at the end of October at a winery, and the reception was in a tent. It did get up to like 65 that day, but cooled off very quickly when the sun went down. The bride refused to let the venue turn on the heat for some reason, so it was absolutely freezing in there. She was confused why everyone left the reception early. Um, because it's freezing in here.

I understand that everyone has different tastes in music, but one wedding I went to recently, they only played like hard core rap songs. Really, I can't dance to that. The dance floor was empty almost the whole night except for the bride, groom, and some of their friends.

Have you ever caught the bouquet? Yes, a couple of years ago.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: WPBP of the day : I never did an opening, but I've heard so many stories about Mrs.

She was an awful person to work with and for. She had her own entity that did all the interior design and architecture standards for the banks (part of how they got into trouble), and she was an absolute nightmare. No one was sad to see her go. She would walk around the openings just pointing at things with her little dog either being carried or walking next to her piddling on things, not ever actually saying anything, just pointing at things she didn't like. The openings were SO stressful.

People are out of line with their pets sometimes. It's really true. But people can be so self centered, none of it surprises me anymore.

• About the pets thing, I don't care if you want to stick your puppy in a purse and go to the bank/clothing store, as long as it STAYS in said purse. When it's the grocery store that I have issues. I have both cats and a dog, that doesn't mean I'm OK with anyone else's animal around the food I plan to eat.
