•
I judge people who own mini-vans.  I just don't get it.  I double-judge mini-van owners when they drive freakin' slow as hell.  Okay, I get it you have half the world's populace in your Town and Country, but dude, you can still drive the speed limit!
    Posted by bbyckes
I judget people who drive large SUVs and obviously don't need them.  I also tend to find them to be much more idiotic drivers on average than minivan drivers, who are also getting much better gas mileage.  But I rarely see minivans going too slow.

Yep.  I'm in agreement with you on the idiotic SUVs - I show visibly disdain when I still see people driving Hummers.  That's really something I don't get.  I guess living in the 'burbs, I'm especially sensitive to mini-vans drivers and their perceived driving habits.

Okay, I haven't gotten through any of the rest of the thread yet, but I had to comment on this.  There was a whole table filled with loud, pretentious assholes that nearly ruined our lunch at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant on our honeymoon.  We not only judged, but pretty quickly figured out that they came from wealthy families and had been given jobs that they didn't know how to do, but wanted to sound like experts in.  When the one guy said, "Well, real french onion soup has lemon juice," I nearly choked on my creme brulee.

  • Ooh, let me jump on the minivan and SUV boat.  I judge them when they park in a compact space and take up two spaces!  Walk a little farther and park in a normal space.  I really judge them when they park next to me and I can't get in my car through my drivers side door.

Yes!  There's a reason it's compact cars only, I can barely open the big coupe doors of my compact enough to squeeze in if your giant rig is shimmied up to it.

Okay, now I've read the rest and am ready to play!

I judge people who drive like assholes and then have Christian paraphernalia all over their car.  It seems like every guy who cuts me off on the freeway has a Jesus fish, I'm starting to think it's not coincidence.

I judge people who think that they don't have to parent their children or listen to their survival instict when on vacation.  If you're willing to jaywalk on Las Vegas Blvd. on a Saturday night, you deserve to be removed from the gene pool.

I judge people who have terminal degrees and can't figure out what I mean by the "Start" button.  We've had the internet for like 20 years now, it's not that hard to adapt.

I judge people who form deeply entrenched opinions on legislation without having the slightest idea what it actually says.  I'm knee-deep in the whole immigration thing because I grew up in Arizona and have a lot of friends and family still there, and the whole debate is pretty ridiculous.

    Damn, I'm a bitch.

  • Damn, I missed an I judge post?

I judge my new co-worker for just walking in an hour late. She forgot to tell me she needed to do something for her visa which ok, fine, but she got to the govt office to do this at 9:20 and then waited there for 45 minutes. EVERYONE knows that you need to get in line at 8am to be ready when the doors open at 8:15 if you want to get any kind of "quick" service, and I think it's pretty shitty of her not even to make the effort to get there as early as possible so that she can be at work as soon as possible. (This is also an ongoing theme, so I'm extra judgy about it).
  • Oooh I want to jump on the bandwagon of those who judge obnoxious SUV drivers - I harbor an especially intense hatred of Humvees that are driven by regular civilians. What - are you prepared for a sudden outbreak of suburban warfare? WTF do you need a Humvee for when you're commuting back and forth to your office job and picking up the kids from school? Lame.

I also judge people who smoke around their kids. I just love it when I see someone driving along puffing their cancer stick with their kid in the backseat. Awesome.

I judge people who complain that their bodies hurt. all the time. and they drink pop, smoke cigarettes, and eat like crap.  Ya know, if you treated that body a little better, maybe it wouldn't hurt so bad.

I also judge people who live with every boyfriend they ever have.  And move in at like 2 months (if that)

I judge people who write "Congrads!" instead of "Congrats". Congrats is a shortened version of Congratulations. Congrads is just a made up word that companies use to sell graduation presents. It really annoys me that people don't know the difference.

I totally judge people who judge fat brides. I ride a bike 12km a day, I'm still fat but I'm healthy, and I'm gorgeous, bitches!

I judge people who really don't get that etiquette is not a universal absolute. Yeah, some things are rude everywhere, but some things are not.

Oh, and I judge drivers who yell at cyclists for doing completely legal things like riding in the centre of a lane. I've read my Driver's Handbook, it says I can do that. When was the last time you read it?

Me too, especially when they are cyclists themselves! Just because they have a 70.3 or 140.6 sticker on the back does not mean they are courteous to those of us who don't go that fast.. That is a big pet peeve of mine.

This!  a girl I went to HS with was a total whoore.  After we graduated she got all churchy and now judges everyone around her.  She would add and delete me in the days of Myspace, and now does the same thing on FB.  Who is she to decide and judge how I live my life?  I don't do things that are illegal or immoral, so where does she have the right to judge me AND put bible quotes on my page?!

Ugh, that really irks me.  I believe in the golden rule of treating others the way I want to be treated.  Who really cares if I believe in a book that teaches this same principle, in very long-winded fashion?!  Not to mention the other principles it teaches, with which I disagree wholeheartedly, and the fact that it was written by men (not God), who are fallible.

  • I had a girl that came into the old bar I worked at one night. She marched up to the bar and through down her purse pouting. I asked her what was wrong and she said it was her birthday and she was having a "horrific" time. It was the "worst birthday and day of my life." So I asked what was wrong and she said that she realized that she is old and fat. The girl was turning 22 and was a size 2.  I looked at her and said "well you might as well kill yourself now because you're really going to have a hard time when you hit 23 and a size 4" <eyeroll and walk away>

OMG This makes me crazy. My housemate in college was once talking about her "fat days" and she said "No seriously guys I was really fat, I was like a size 8"....... I just looked at her and said "Hey douchebag, I'm a size 8." Then she tried to backpedal and say "oh noo it's totally different." IS IT? We're the same height beeyotch.
lharri, I think its all in the interpretation. Seriously, people who don't understand that Bible stories are just like Aesop's fables, meant to teach something but not to be taken literally, are the ones that get way too fanatical for my taste. And as for the judginess, have you ever read the book "Prodigal God" by Thomas Keller? It gets in depth to the parable of the Prodigal Son and really gets down to the essence of how God (if you believe in God at all) really expects us to treat other people how he treats us. I am not very religious, but I work at a Christian univeristy. This was the subject of a group Bible study session, and the book is really amazing. I wish more Christians would read it. <strong>Seriously. Oh, and have you seen the Bill Mahr documentary on religion? Its amazing how the major stories and character roles in the Bible have been around, in many different cultures and religions, since WAY before the dawn of Christianity. To me, it is just a book, a guide to how to treat others and live my life positively.

Yes, his movie was really good and it was so interesting.  I found the conversation with the "converted" homosexual to fascinating!

I struggle with religion as well.  I grew up in the church and I feel bad for questioning God's or the bible's validity.  But as an educated person, how can you not?  I have to go to church with my mom this Sunday and I'm seriously dreading it.  Big.Time.
  • I wasn't a huge fan of the Bill Maher movie, actually.  He was just as closed-minded as all the people he was mocking; a couple of times one of the people would make a good point, and instead of actually trying to respond to it, he'd just hide behind some other defense.  Not So Different, are we, Bill?

I was not raised in a religious family. I'm pretty sure my dad is a non-believer.  I did the youth group and occasional church thing through high school, and even some in high school.  Now I just don't feel it is my thing and I don't like when people push me in to it. I have a lady who is like my second mom who is pretty religious.  She is one of those born again people who likes to push it.  When I was single, she told me "you just need to come to church with us.  Or find one where you live.  That's the best place to find a man.  That's where I met DH. Come with us Sunday!"

Uh yeah, not the place I was looking for a man!  Pretty sure he would not have been my kind.

No, I didn't see House.  Brief recap?

CA2, I moved to the South about 2 years ago now and in almost every convo I have with someone, church comes up.  What church do you go to?  Have you found a church?  Do you want to go to my church?  It's a little overwhelming.  I can't come out and say, "I really have no interest in going to church. None.  God and I are cool - we have an understanding."  I just don't imagine it going over very well.  Sigh.
