Can't we all just get along and accept the fact that every family is different?? The words that the OP uses to refer to her FI's family aren't the point of the post. I personally think it's nice that their family is close enough to refer to him as her nephew before a piece of paper is signed. It all depends on the relationship to the family and it's the OP's business what she calls him.
