Re: Monday Checks

  • WR: painted the plaques for the candy buffet, now I just need to do the letters (I think I'm going to use my friends cricut to make it easier!), started the card box and finished all the centerpieces.  We also pretty much determined the flowers for the bouquets so I'll go get those with my mom later this week and start making them.  3 of my bridesmaids have their dresses and I picked up the sash for mine and my shoes came in.  It was a pretty productive week!

NWR: finally got a good schedule down for myself on house stuff on different days and a gym/yoga schedule and all that.  We've also been good about planning meals and are starting to try new recipes to mix it up.
  • keeper of the rings ordered her dress, mom got her jewelry, working on the card box, assembled the invitations

    NWR: Getting over this cold/cough.

  • WR: Decided on a new caterer..... this is a HUGE relief and I am glad it is taken care of.

NWR: We are ordering the kitchen cabinets for FI's house today..... SO excited! Once these are in his house is going to look much more complete. :)

It really is. I know that FI and FMIL are not super happy about it. But I think its really unfair to put added stress on my parents to make them happy. We are now using the family friend caterer for the RD. I think it will all work out wonderfully in the end.

  • We finalized who is invited to our RD.

Over the weekend, we traveled to NC to visit my sister and FI and decided to do a little house hunting. We found a house!! I'm in looove with it and FI is calling the agent and lenders today to see what the next step is. Fingers crossed everything goes well!

We havent heard from him since he gave us the quote back in October. We have emailed him 2-3 times and called 2-3 times. My parents are going to send him a letter stating that we are going with another caterer and also sending a check to cover teh expense of the tasting we had. FI and FMIL are upset my parents arent going to call him.... HE DOESNT CALL BACK. I just dont understand how they can be in support of this guy at this point.

  • WR:
-Ordered FI's daughter's dress yesterday. This one in Lapis. I can't believe she's only 11 and in a size 4! But it looks good on her.
    http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Short-Charmeuse-Dress-with-Ruched-Waist-and-Pocket-83707_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Short-Bridesmaid-Dresses
-Bought her shoes as well while we were out. Size 8 in women - holy cow! Just about the same size as me.

-Started addressing invitations to those I know info won't change in the next few months.
-Figured out a date that my BMs should all be able to get together - this Sunday! They've been having difficulty talking with each other because they all have different personalities so I'm hoping if I'm there we can just get over everything and get back to having fun and being happy with everything.

Thanks. I am not terribly concerned about it. I get along great with my FILs so it just stinks that there is anyone getting upset. I understand that they had full confidence in this caterer, but my family doesnt know him so how in the world are we supposed to trust someone that isnt communicating with us with one of the most important aspects of the reception? Oh well.....

  • WR:
    - Went to our venue yesterday for a tasting.  We were kind of expecting a sit-down thing, but it was more like a bridal show for all of the people who have set dates and put down deposits with them.  The food was DELICIOUS though!

    - Talked FI into doing sashes on the chairs; they're inexpensive and he loved the way they looked.  YES!

    - Started my veil!  It's put together, I'm just working on sewing the ribbon around the edges and then finishing off the comb.

    - Sent possible RD locations and guest count to FI to look over and pass on to FMIL.

    NWR:
    - Finished a book for class - Three Little Words, an autobiography from a girl who was in the worst of the Florida foster care system and was eventually adopted.  She is AMAZING, I read the whole thing in a day!  It's rekindled my interest in becoming a foster parent someday, but we'll see what FI says...

  • WR: The 4th bridesmaid I just added ordered her dress :)
FI had a cake tasting, and booked the baker! Now to decide on flavers...
Ordered my headband from Etsy! The seller said it would ship today
Received the cake topper I orderd from Etsy - love it!

NWR: FI found a townhouse we like, I am going to call today to ask about signing a lease!

    RSVP deadline: June 8
  • WR:
      - FI got everything set up for our ceremony musician (good friend of his)
      - Wedding website is up and running
      - Our invites, RSVPs, TY cards and my Shower Invites all arrived from Vista print! They look great (although I accidently ordered the wrong shade of green on the RSVP cards but our families all say it looks fine. Oh well)
      - Booked tastings to select the menu from the caterer and the baker
      - Currently communicating with a florist :: picking flowers is HARD!

    NWR:
      - I live in downtown Indianapolis (about a mile from Lucus Oil) and there have been lots of fun acitivites (free ones!) going on for the super bowl festivities

  • WR:
    - Mailed contract for hair appointments (stupid really, they need a CC# to charge in case any BMs walk out on paying their appts)
    - Mailed contract for hotel block - I'm so relieved
    - Discussed lots of things with FI yesterday- rehearsal dinner & DJ - he promised the DJ would be booked this week. (he didn't see the rush, I've been gently reminding him for the last 2 months that it needs to be done!, he understands the importance now)

FI sort of had a meltdown yesterday but it resulted in a lot of good discussion and coming to some conclusions.  He feels like, all the time that I'm spending on wedding planning will make it impossible for the day to live up to my expectations and now he will only be worried about that & not enjoying the day.  We talked about it, I tried to explain, that I'm doing all this planning because I enjoy it & I hope that the planning now will help the day run more smoothly.

  • I finally approved the proof for our invitations, so they're actually being made right now!!

We have a meeting with the tent company on Tuesday and our lighting guy on Thursday. After that, we'll have all of our big checks out of the way!

I got the supplies for our drink straw and stirrers in the mail, and I'm excited to get started on them!

My FI had the same concerns.  I sat him down and explained to him that my expectations are that he shows up, our families are there, and we have an officiant to marry us.  Everything else is "extra," and if it doesn't pan out, it doesn't pan out.  If things fall apart at the last minute and we have to go to a courthouse instead, I may be upset that all of my work has gone to waste, but my "dream wedding" means marrying him - end of story.

  • WR-had our cake tastings and booked our baker. -bought my wedding ring, FI still needs to book his -officially decided to have a best man/maid of honor, instead of two witnesses -bought materials to make my pomanders -calmed FILs down FINALLY-they had a billion questions and I don't think they were getting any answers from FI so after I talked to them they seemed to feel better -had another appt with my florist -checked out the hotel we were thinking about booking for OOT guests, it was kinda drab do im going to look into a nicer option. NWR- finished the first book of Game of Thrones. I hope to be done with book 2 before the new season starts.
