Anyone doing wine for favors?

One of my friends that was at BFF's party last night makes homemade wine and brought us each a bottle.  It was a strawberry wine and really yummy.  She also makes pineapple wine that I can't wait to try.  Long story short we got to talking about the kits and it turns out we can get 60 bottles of wine for only $140 to use for favors!  The only thing I am concerned about is I know every couple would get one bottle, but what about guests with plus ones that don't live together?  Would they each get their own bottle?

  • It seems like your trying to figure this out from an etiquette perspective, which I don't really really know the rules on, and the etiquette board may be a better place for this. But my thoughts are that I think it's fine for the guest and plus one to share one bottle, and if you do give plus ones their own bottle, than I think everyone should get their own bottle.
Plus if you order one for everyone but some couples only take one, then you have these extra bottles of wine that you love at a hugely discounted price.

  • i would do it per every couple, don't worry about your +1's, the guest that is invited would still get the wine, they can share it if they want, you won't even know all the +1's so why would you worry about them so much?

  • I am doing 1 bottle of homemade limoncello per couple as well. I am not giving an extra for plus one. I  think it would be worse etiquette to give a couple one bottle and the guests plus ones two bottles.

  • I am having a wine theme.  I'm hopefully giving out miniature bottles of wine for each guest...or a whole bottle of wine for each couple depending on what kind of prices I can get.

I really don't think any of the couples or +1's are going to feel cheated if you only give them one bottle of wine.  They are kind of expensive and I think people will just be happy that they got ONE bottle of wine.

Don't know if that helps, but that is the way that I look at it!

  • I think that if your guests know their dates well enough to bring them to your wedding, they'll probably share the wine anyway - and if they don't, they've got more to deal with than a bottle of wine!

Are you inviting children?  And if so, are you planning on separate kids' favors?

  • i agree with PPs, i don't think the +1s should get a separate gift, especially when a couple who were both invited are sharing.  you may not even know some of the +1s if they are guests of people whom you don't see very often.

  • Thanks for the advice ladies!  I figured it should only be one per couple, period, but I didn't want to come across as stingy :)
There most likely won't be kids at the reception, but I would definitely come up with something different for them and any other under 19's if any are coming!

We're doing homemade limoncello too, we just haven't decided if we're doing it as the favor or serving it at the reception. I can't wait to make it!!

As for the original question I defiantly say one per couple and don't worry about the plus one.
