[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Honeymoon Budget : Your price point sounds about right. Last year FI and I went to Disney and we never added it all up, but we guesstimate that we spent between $2500 and $3000 for 8 days/nights. We didn't stay on Disney property, so our hotel was less than an equivalent at Disney and we didn't fly, but we also bought tickets to Universal and Cirque du Soliel. We also ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Disney restaurants each day (including probably two sit down meals a day) and that definitely wasn't cheap, and if you stay at Disney you'd be able to do the dining plan which probably would have worked out cheaper for us in regards to food. I definitely think you'd be able to do Disney very nicely on $3-5K.

Good to know, thanks!  I definitely want to do the dining plan - it's what my mom chose for us when we went 4 years ago (WOW it's been that long?!) and it was amazing; if you're staying on Disney property with no plans to really go anywhere else, I don't know why you wouldn't choose it - no need to worry about paying for food or even snacks while you're there!

I agree, it's a great deal. When we went we got a great deal on a nice hotel about 10 minutes away from the parks, so we stayed off property. We would have definitely saved money on the dining plan as far as food, but the difference in price to stay on property vs our hotel ate up any savings, so we opted for off property. I love Disney, I can't wait to go back!

Laura, your cruise sounds a little too exhausting for me!

Harper, what cruise line are you doing?
  • Ours was under $4000 for 6 days/7 nights at Secrets Maroma Beach. We are flying from Canada though and it is a lot more expensive to fly to Mexico.
  • We are still deciding. There are several that leaves from Istanbul. We are going to travel around Turkey first and then come back to Istanbul for the cruise.

As for Disney the meal plan is the way to go. My family went in June last year. It is easier to just pay for everything ahead of time...I think you get less sticker shock :)

  • I voted for $3000-$5000 range. We are spending about $1500 each for flights and an all inclusive hotel for 9 nights. (We are either going to Costa Rica or Dominican Republic)
  • We are going to Fiji and Vegas, just the airfare is over 4k, so a higher budget. We are planning to start a family right away so the chances of going that far in the near future is slim. You only get 1 honeymoon, pick your dream place if you can swing it....
  • I said 1000-3000 because we don't know what we are doing yet, but I don't think we will have much left over money from the wedding savings.  FFIL offered to give us some money toward HM, I have no idea how much.
We might end up at Universal Studios. FI wants to see the Harry Potter park. who knows.
