When you grew up...

Were presents from Santa wrapped? I always thought Santa wrapped his presents, [he did for me ;)] but I saw many books with unwrapped and many books with wrapped.  FI's Santa gifts were never wrapped and I found is so bizarre until I thought back to those books.

Santa presents were wrapped, and with a tag (from the wrapping paper) saying something like:
To Meaghan, Love Santa

I'm curious about what you guys grew up with!

Re: When you grew up...

  • I never had gifts from Santa, and I don't even remeber my parents telling that Santa was real at any point in my childhood. It was always "we're going in the bedroom to wrap presents, don't come in until we're done".
  • Our presents weren't wrapped from Santa. We would come down the stairs and everything would be laid out.

  • My sis and I caught on to the whole Santa thing pretty young--I think I was 3, and we didn't really give our other siblings a chance to believe. I don't really remember getting presents "From Santa," thought I guess our stockings would be from him. We usually have a combination of wrapped and unwrapped things in our stockings.
  • Most of mine were wrapped.  My parents gave me stuff but santa gave me one or two things.  Most of the time everything was wrapped.  The only time they weren't were when it was larger items like a new bike or something.

  • My mom STILL wraps presents and signs them from santa. My youngest sibbling is 22.

Once we knew about Santa, my mom started getting creative with types of Santas. Like last year, they got me my necklace for the wedding so it was from  "Wedding Santa".  The year I got a new pair of sneakers they were from "Fitness Santa"
    image
  • My mother would always wrap "Santa's gifts" in a different wrapping paper all together, that way, we wouldn't see that presents from her were in the same paper. I do that now with the presents to our kids. 2 out of 4 of ours still believe. I told the other 2 that if they don't believe, then they don't get any gifts from Santa. They both "started believing" right after I made that comment.

  • Our Santa presents were wrapped, but it was special wrapping paper that only Santa used.  My parents must have had a secret stash of that wrapping paper somewhere to use it for three kids each year!  It was always the same paper each year - red with little Santas all over.

  • Mine were never wrapped. They were all either in my stocking or nicely displayed around my stocking in our designated area. I always had a corner of the sofa and my brother had a chair. I thought it was weird that some people would have their presents wrapped! haha I guess whatever you grow up with is what's normal to you.
  • We always (and still) got wrapped gifts from Santa and all or four pets.  I grew up with horses cats and dogs.  They all got us different gifts.  My mother would only give me one thing and sometimes nothing at all.  : )

FI will be getting gifts from Santa, Gizmo (our puppy) and only two things from me this year.  Gizmo got him five different gifts though!

My aunt uses the same wrapping that has mini santas on it every year for her kids.  I think she bought the entire store out of the paper when she decided to do it year after year!  I think it's cute!!

  • My mom always wrapped the santa gifts in a totally different wrapping paper then was around the house.  I'm guessing she hid it with the gifts . :)
  • Santa filled our stockings and gave us the "big" present from our list (bikes, stereo, etc) and the present was unwrapped in front of the tree with a tag that said "From Santa".  All of the other presents under the tree were wrapped and were from dad/mom and other family members.

  • We always got big gifts from Santa that weren't wrapped then our stockings filled. We got an air hockey table, basketball hoop, new bikes, and things like that from Santa so they couldn't really be wrapped
  • This is a great question becuase I never really "thought" about it until now. I was raised Jewish but my mom is Catholic so we have always celebrated both. Our big items, like PP said, were from Santa and little things were from mom and dad.  If it could have been wrapped it was, if not just placed with a fancy bow!  For Hanakkah we just got one little present each night. Sometimes it was wrapped sometimes not.  I still love getting gifts from Santa too!

  • The gifts from Santa were always wrapped in paper different from all the others. A special gift like jewlery was place in the toe of the stocking and all the gifts were arranged by person and the stocking was place on top of your pile of gifts. My older two (18 & 13) still let the little one (8) have her Santa belief and I still try to surprise them with unusual gifts in their stockings or under the tree. At my house, the stockings hang on the mantle until Dec 23 and Santa makes a special trip to my house Christmas Eve morning so the stockings are under the tree with all the gifts when the kids get up Christmas Eve morning (they go to their dad's Christmas Eve night). Each person's presents are put beneath the ornament from their first christmas (which always hang at the very bottom of the tree). I still wrap their "Santa" gift in different paper and put a special surprise in the toe of the stocking (one year, "Santa" put the boy's new cell phone in the toe of his stocking)

  • Santa always wrapped our presents except for the gifs like a computer, bike, the goldfish, etc.  Mom & Dad only gave us a few and all the rest were from Santa.  Nothing in the stocking is wrapped.  Like PP, I'm 26 and my brother is 23 and we still have basically everything from "Santa".

Santa's gifts were always in our stockings (little things like candy...) and laid out in front of all the other presents under the tree. My mom still does this for my sister and me, we're 26 and almost 23, respectively.

  • We actually open (yes, still do) our presents Christmas Eve, and then we get stocking stuffers and one "big" gift Christmas morning from Santa (unwrapped).
