Sequence of Events?? - Reception

Wedding is June 23rd and I still do not know the sequence of events for the reception.  I definitely have an idea of how I would like it to go, however, my venue has not sent me anything, asked me anything, nothing!  They simply ask what time I want the apps, dinner, and drinks to be served.  Am I supposed to coordinate with my venue about this or my DJ?  Still waiting for a final meeting with DJ.  Have only turned in a packet.  Also have emailed venue and they just tell me "not to worry, they have it covered."  Help!

Any suggestions for the order of the reception??

  • I'd talk to the DJ about it. He's the one that would be announcing everything. 

    I'd ask your venue to be more specific about what they're taking care of versus what your DJ should be taking care of in terms of timeline.
  • I've created my own timeline that I'm going to have my wedding coordinator look at.  I'm afraid it might be too choppy. 

    2:30---Ceremony ends and after ceremony pictures begin, guests head to tent for appetizers

     

    3:15---Mike & Christy arrival at reception/food service begins when we are announced

     

    5:15---Food service ends/Party on!!

     

    6:00---Champagne toast/Cake cutting

     

    6:15---Music kicks back up, start serving cake

     

    7:00---Bouquet & garter toss

     

    7:30---Last dance

     

    7:45---Mike & Christy leave

  • You can create your own timeline, then tell your venue and your DJ what order and time you want things to go. Neither my venue nor my DJ had asked for anything, so I just made it up.
