How did you and your FI meet?

FI is childhood friends with a guy that was engaged to a friend of mine from college. He was on vacation and was visiting his friend and I happened to stop by that day! I had no interest in him at first, but I do remember that the first time we had a conversation it was like talking to an old friend Turns out we would have met a few years earlier!! We were both invited to the same wedding a few years before, but I declined the invitation!

I was actually lucky enough to meet my FI online. I had run out of options to meet a decent guy and resorted to online dating. Honestly I was about to give up that route as well, until Gary came along. He is a few years (3) younger than I so I wasn't 100% sure how things would work out.

We had our first date. It was a few days after my birthday and he wanted to buy me a bday gift. I knew when he took me to a shoe store and bought me $50 pair of shoes that I found a keeper. He also had red roses delivered to my job the next day.

A few days after our first date we both made the decision that we wanted to work on a relationship. That was just over 3 years ago. The rest is history.

I am blessed to have found such a warm hearted, strong, funny man. I can't wait to call him my husband in less than 4 months.

FI and I met my senior year of high school. I used to work at our local movie theater throughout high school. I worked with one of his best friends there but I had never met him before. FI lost his job and best friend helped get him a job at the theater for the time being. He is 2 years older than me and went to the same school and everything but I had never met him before he started working there.

I had a major crush on someone else at the time (my best guy friend) and FI kept bugging me and bugging me to go out with him. I kept declining because I was waiting around  for best guy friend to wake up...in the mean time FI kept annoying me more and more and at one point I went out of my way to avoid him.. The more excuses I made up the more persistant he got on taking me out.

One day he was trying to talk me into going out one weekend and I had a real excuse (I was going to visit my best friend away at school) and he very cleverly decided we would go out for breakfast before I left for Maryland.... Our first date was amazing. I thought about him the whole weekend I was away and that's that! We will be together 10 years when we get married!

We met online, but not through a dating website. We both had blogs on Xanga and I saw his profile pop up after he wrote about playing my high school in a scrimmage that I was planning on going to and then backed out of. He knew my cousins and another kid that had moved to his area but used to go to my school. It was such a chance meeting that I believe it was meant to be!

We met in person for my aunt's wedding my senior year of high school (his freshman year of college) and it was love at first sight.We started dating officially a month later and have been together ever since, even through separate colleges. By the time of our wedding, it will be a little of 6 1/2 years!

We met online as well! We were both members of an anime message board back when we were teenagers. We started talking, and along with a bunch of friends we met up at an anime convention in Chicago. I went to his prom that same weekend. We visited each other for a year or so until he moved to my state, and then moved in with me. We'll have been together 7.5 years when we get married.

The first time we ever 'met' was at church when we were kids, he  was a few years older than me and I always thought he was scary LOL Then in high school i dated a friend of his and every time I saw FI i'd be like... Hey I know that guy from somewhere.. Fast forward to my sophmore year in high school I went to my ex's house [we had broken up but remained friends] for new years eve and FI was there! I sort of remembered him from church and the next morning I needed a ride home from the party and he offered to take me. That evening he messaged me on myspace asking me out on a date

I was friends with his cousin in college.  We didn't really hang out too much but we had classes together and were in the same freshman orientation group.  After college, we began hanging out more and she asked if I wanted to meet her cousin (I always seemed to attract the worst guys).  Knowing that she was such an outgoing girl with great morals I agreed to it because I had nothing to lose.  She planned a bunch of our friends getting together for bowling one night (he knew some of them because they all grew up in the same town), but I ended up having to work.  The following weekend she invited just the 2 of us over for pizza and movies.  He hardly talked and almost didn't ask me for my number at the end of the night.  We went out on a date 2 weeks later (the weekend in between was Halloween and I had plans).  I honestly didn't like him until about the end of November.  I was about to give up and had decided that he either needed to open up a bit on this date or I wasn't going to waste my time anymore.  He ended up opening up and the rest is history.

We met online when we were 13 and 14 through a friend. Good old AOL Instant Messenger.

We hadn't met in person untl August of 2011.

We met at college through a mutual friend.  Wasn't into him at first but he kept chasing for me and I realized what a smart, funny, and caring guy he is after a few dates.

We both worked at the same company. I was the receptionist and he used to stop and grab candy from my candy jar every day, never saying a word. Finally after about 6 months, he asked me why there were never any strawberry Starbursts, just the other flavors. So one day after I restocked the candy, I emailed him and told him to come and get the strawberry ones before they were all gone. And he did, and he emailed me back to thank me...then I emailed him back...and he emailed me back, and the emails kept getting flirtier and flirtier. And finally after a few days he asked if I wanted to go to lunch. And we were pretty much a serious couple right from our first date. I only worked at that company for another 5 months so we didn't have too much fallout from dating a coworker.

My FI and I met in high school.  We were both in the Science club at our school.  We didn't officially meet or start talking really until the next year, my junior year, in honors anatomy and physiology class.

My FI and I met at work--lifeguarding at a private club. He saw the picture on my PADI certification that I submitted with my application, and thought I was cute. He started asking our supervisor (a friend of mine) about me, and she told him to stay away! I first saw him on the day of my interview, when my friend gave me a tour of the place. I saw him and another guard (one of our groomsmen!) and thought, This would not be a bad place to work! And of course, FI got to see me all dressed up in a skirt. That was end of August 2010. We got to know each other a bit and discovered a mutual love of tennis. We started sneaking onto the courts after our closing shifts for some fun competition. In November, he asked me out for dinner, and on Dec.7th, we started dating. We haven't been together very long compared to most of you PPs! He's also 3 years younger than me, so I got a few cougar jokes, but most of the time, people can't tell!

I was friends with a guy in college that FI went to high school with. One nightback in 2005 apparently FI and I were both talking to this friend on AIM at the same time about how sick we were of being single. This friend sent each other pictures of the other and told us to start talking. FI got my sense of humor and we chatted online for hours for a few days. Then we talked on the phone once or twice. He came to meet me a few days later (actually it was Superbowl 7 years ago!) and we went out to lunch with the mutual friend. After lunch we went out separate ways for Superbowl parties but I couldn't stop thinking about FI so I called him to invite him back to my apt after the game to chat. We talked for a few hours alone. When he went to leave I gave him a kiss to see if the feelings I had were real. I have never felt that way about another person like I did during that kiss. I still ferl that way when I kiss him 7 years later!

We met in physics class during my sophmore year at college.  He offered to help me out with homework, so we'd always go to lunch together after class.  It was love at first site for him, but it took me awhile to warm up to him.  After that class ended, our paths kept crossing because my friends played on his soccer team.  We made things official, and will be together for 7.5 years at our wedding

FI and I first met at the Alumni swim meet when I was a junior in college and he was a couple years out. The team had an party after the meet and invited the alum swimmers. I don't remember really talking to him at the party but we became facebook friends afterwards (although we never contacted each other or anything). 

A couple years later we went back to the Alumni swim meet (my first year as an actual alum) and all the alum swimmers went out to the bar afterwards. FI caught my attention on the dance floor and we ended up hanging out until about 4am together. We exchanged numbers and texted almost non-stop for the next few days. It turned out we only lived about 10 minutes away from each other in the Minneapolis area and we went on our first date a couple weeks after the alum meet. After that, we were inseparable.

We met in our college taekwondo  club. We both came in with previous experience, so we worked together very closely along with another friend. I was actually engaged to someone else. FI helped me see that my ex was a terrible human being and I deserved someone who treated me like I was special. I broke up with my ex and started dating FI the next week. 9 years later...

I like to joke with FI that I owe him for life for saving me from my ex.

I was a Classical Latin major, and FI was a senior high school student in my upper level Latin course at my college through a program at his high school. I asked him to tutor me, and the rest is history : )

My sorority was partnered with FI's fraternity for homecoming. I was a sophomore and he was a senior - he actually graduated early that December, so it was the perfect timing!!

We met in 7th grade working in the library, but didn't really like each other then. We then were in student government together in 9th grade and got to know each other again. We started dating literally the day after 9th grade ended (first day of summer break) and have been together ever since!

We met in 2008, I was just finishing grade 11. I went to a musical festival near my hometown when I met him the first time. I wasn't particularly fond of him the first time we met, I thought he was too loud and crazy for me. Fast forward another two weeks and my cousin dragged me to a house party to be her DD... We met again, and he asked for my number. I never thought much of it until we were texting a few days later and said I was coming up to his hometown to go for supper with a friend. Friend ended up ditching, he said he'd go with me if I wanted...By the time date 2 & 3 happened, we both knew we were perfect for each other. We're getting married a month and a half before our 4 year.

We met online (OKCupid) just over 3 years ago, right as I was about to give up hope on the website (having been on over THIRTY first dates from the site).  His message came to my inbox and I intended to ignore it, but the first couple lines caught my eye.  He was about to student teach, and I was in my first year of teaching, and he noticed I had gone to the college he was going to.  His first message was completely honest and NOT cheesy, because it was all just asking advice!  We started talking with that in common and then set up a time to meet a week later.  We had an AMAZING, mind-blowing first date with some of the best conversation, silliness, and flirtiness of my life.  The fun has continued ever since.. I kept thinking that at some point, the other shoe would drop and things would go bad.. but it just never has.  We're just well-matched and have a stupid about of fun all the time!

FI and I met in college.  I was on an intramural soccer team and we would have pick-up games on Sunday's.  FI was friends with some of the guys that I played with so he would come play with us all on Sunday's.  After the first week playing together, he started asking around who I was and he kept coming back every week.  It wasn't until the very end of the semester that he finally asked me out.  By the time we get married, we'll have been together over 6 years

We met watching LSU football. Our local chapter of the LSU Alumni Association hosts watch parties for all the LSU football games. We had been watching the games 2 barstools apart for 3 seasons before we started talking. We were about the only ones who showed up to the 2008 season kickoff at 10am (very early for an LSU game). We've been a couple ever since.

But it wasn't like that.. It is really weird to explain but when I went in for my interview with him it wasn't an interview we literally just talked for almost 2 hours there was an instant connection. He had a girlfriend and well I needed a job so I thought nothing of it at the time. Although the night after my interview I was telling a gf about the interview and about how funny and awesome he was.. and she said to me "What if you found the guy of your dreams" I laughed it off and said Nah just a cool boss guess she was right.

We hung out all the time and went to networking events. On several occasions the ladies in the office kept trying to get us to to date (neither of us would do it.. both had bad work dating experiences.. don't dip in the company ink FI likes to say) After 6 months he had gotten a new job; he took me to meet some clients on his last day and he kept telling me how hot I looked. It was so awkward because I had already put him in boss/co-worker/friend category but had always been attracted to him. He was funny and good looking! (I was actually mad at him for getting a new job because I didn't think I would ever see him again) The next week he asked me to a see a cirque show... and here we are 6 years later.

Late 2009 I was pretty down for not having been in a relationship for 2 years. I didn't know where to meet any decent guys and felt like this was just how life would go.

Well one of my friends always promised me that he would let me know if he found anyone he thought would be good for me. He had just started working at a new job and met FI there. My friend told me that he actually wanted to introduce me to someone! (After 5 long years) Friend was having a house party in December and I went all dolled up expecting to meet a guy and turns out FI ditched the party. haha

A couple weeks later, on New Years day 2010, I was at the movies with my cousin and our friend. I get a text from my guy friend that he was at the bar next door with his date and FI. I dtiched my girls (oops) and tried to look as best as I could with out makeup and my hair in a ponytail! When I walked in he wasn't even looking at me. My friend had told me his name, lots of things about him and even showed me a picture. FI later told me that all our friend told him was that he wanted him to meet someone. That was it! He didn't even know my name! I felt like some creepy stalker after that haha.

I totally didn't think he was interested and he took forever when we were saying goodbye to ask for my number. Well our first date was a week later and it was SO much fun! We had everything in common.

We haven't been together as long as most of you but it'll be 2.5 years together when we get married.

I started a new job on April 24th, 2007, the day after I ended a relationship.  I sat down at the desk next to him... He pursued me for a few weeks but I wasn't interested.  Finally, I gave it and when I did it was all downhill from there.

We met on Eharmony. I had just ended a two year relationship about a month and a half before and wanted to just see what was out there. We had an instant connection. We sent several lengthy emails and had a two hour phone conversation before we had our first date. By the time that night came we both pretty much knew we wanted to be together. We actually consider our first date our anniversary. We had 3 dates within the first week and we moved in together after 4 months.
