I love the horse ones!  I am almost tempted to find a photographer in Florida and do that at my mother's stables down there.  I grew up riding horses my entire life and showing.  My mother would probably think I was a weirdo though!

I think that would look really nice.
I can't imagine selling my dress. I have a hard enough time of getting rid of clothes that hold no sentimental value to me. <strong>I want my daughter to be able to play dress up with it one day and have the option to wear it at her own wedding if she wants.

Me too.. I have so many fun memories of my sister and I playing dress up in my mom's wedding gown. I cant imagine getting rid of mine.. I would definitely let someone borrow it if they wanted to though.

  • I'm getting my dress custom made, so I can't imagine selling it, or trashing it! My mom puts on her wedding dress every anniversary. I'd like to do that too! It's fun for pics. My sisters and I have also gotten to try on her dress--it's fun!

I want to do a big winter TTD shoot with FI in his suit, then i'll have it cleaned, hang on to it for a while and may possibly sell/donate it.

  • There's no way I could sell mine. I love my dress way too much and I want to keep it. I would love to build my own house and have a big walk in closet so I can frame my dress like this:
I can't decide if I want to save it for a daughter or make it into a Christmas tree skirt.
    Posted by Ash61612
A Christmas tree skirt!!! What an amazing idea!!! I might have to consider that if I end up daughterless! I do plan on doing a trash the dress session with my photographer, hopefully we will be able to do the session on the beach. I actually considered looking into doing while we would be on our honeymoon in P*unta Cana but I;m not sure I want to bring the dress along with all of our other luggage and risk losing it <eeeek.

I am going to get it cleaned afterward though and don't plan on destroying it so hopefully my future daughter can wear it if she chooses, or maybe even my granddaughter would want to? You never know:)

  • hahah I dont get those floating in the water pictures. they are kind of creepy.  Here is one my photographer has done.  The bride in this picture said her dress got dirtier at the recpetion than it did in the woods.

  • I had a child psychology teacher in college that told us that sometimes when her husband and her were fighting she would go upstairs, put on her wedding dress, and then come down and say "Why are you yelling at me on our wedding day?"  I couldn't stop laughing (and questioning her sanity) when I heard that, so I might have to keep it around to pull the same stunt.

I also like the episode of Friends where they sit in wedding dresses watching a movie or something (I can't quite remember it) and I would totally invite my friends over for wedding movies in our wedding dresses!  And only white wine of course!

  • I saw a picture on Pinterest where a woman had her wedding gown "framed" (it was like a shadow box type thing) and hung in her closet. I want to do this eventually, when I have a huge walk in closet. I thought about doing a trash the dress shoot, without actually ruining it, but idk if I could bring myslef to do that. I'm definitely keeping it and preserving it, and then hopefully framing it.

  • Haha, Katelyn I just read your post after I posted. I want to do the same thing! =)

  • Katelyn, I pinned that same picture the other day. I also want to have a room that is my walk in closet one day, and I want to do that with my dress. I think it's so neat. I could never sell my dress.

  • As a military bride I have a soft spot for other military wives. I'd like to look into donating it to the service that provides free wedding gowns to brides who have deployed, are about to, or whose spouse is in that position. I don't qualify since FI isn't deploying for another year after the wedding but I might participate by providing my gown.

Alternately, hold on to it until I hear about someone who needs a gown and offer it to them.

Or maybe just keep it. I really like it. And I didn't go the $99 route like i thought I might, and I didn't buy a used one like I thoguht I might... the one I loved was brand new (it's not even on any websites yet) and was more pricey but I got it anyway. (-: So we'll see!

  • I love the idea of a  "trash the dress" shoot and I have two friends who are photographer's and will have a part in our wedding so I'll have both of them help with the project. I hope my daughter can use this one day for her wedding or I may have her pictures taking playing in my dress as she's older it'll be super cute !
