June 2012 Weddings

Wedding nightmares. Literally.

I have been calm and excited throughout the whole planning process.  However, with 10 days to go, I just now have constant butterflies in my stomach and feel stressed (we are moving a week before the wedding too!).  Also have been having nightmares about wedding day - things going wrong, items missing, etc.  Have only had one NICE dream!  Anyone else having bad dreams?

Re: Wedding nightmares. Literally.

  • Luckily I haven't had any nightmares yet. But with only 2 days to go (!!!) I am feeling the butterflies.

  • Oh I basically wake up every night from a nightmare.  I can't get a solid night's sleep anymore.  Between work stress, wedding stress, and moving stress, I'm a disaster.  And because I'm exhausted all the time I don't have the energy to cook, so I'm eating crap, which just compounds the problem.

  • Yep! I had a few, the worst was my dad paying attention that it was time to walk down the aisle instead was chatting with his friends. Oh and I had one where the wedding was supposed to start and no one was paying attention. All of the BMs and GMs were sitting around hanging out, FI too and I was freaking out that it was time to start and no one was paying attention. The scariest part was that the GM's were wearing velvet purple tuxes and top hats. No joke I think I read a dream from someone on TK that had purple velvet tuxes and top hats in it and then a few days later I dreamed it. Scary!
  • I know I've now had at least one WR dream, but I don't remember the details. The one that sticks out the most was a dream about our honeymoon - we're renting a cabin, and in the dream, we got there and it wasn't the same as the pictures (or as private), so we were disappointed. Then, we looked in the fridge and it was stocked full of delicious gourmet foods  so it made up for it :)

My main issue these days is the inability to fall asleep. It started this week. I worked ALL day long yesterday and was exhausted. By the time I was done everything, I fell into bed at 10:30. Usually I don't have issues falling asleep, but one of the kids fussed at 11:40 and I still hadn't fallen asleep :( When I had my MU trial, the artist said one of the most common things she sees is that brides are all fresh faced and bright eyed at their make up trials, but then come the wedding day, they've got huge under eye bags going on. I remember thinking to myself "Oh, that won't be me - I'm not stressed about it at all!"... but yet here I am, 10 days out, complaining about lack of sleep.

  • Michelle - I'm on the EXACT same page.

And ladies, thanks for sharing your experiences.  Glad to know I'm not the only one freaking out all hours of the night and these stories made me laugh too! :)

  • My favorite (weird, right) WR nightmare was that we had some sort of natural disaster and NO ONE could be found. I just sat at home by myself freaking out waiting for FI to show up. Well his BM showed up and was like "Brittney! You're not ready, lets go! We gotta get you ready", so he did my hair for me and helped me into my dress (lace up back) and took me to the venue, where everyone was waiting and rolling their eyes at me being late. Apparently the disaster only happened in half of our town.

    My poor, vivid imagination!

  • I had a dream that it was our wedding day and no one was showing up. I kept looking at my fiance and asking "It is our wedding day, right?"
  • Luckily, I haven't had too many wedding related dreams lately - good or bad (that I can remember). I think it's really been helping to talk to FI and mom about everything going on and letting them know what we still have to do so that they can share some of those responsibilities and help me out. My best friend is also being amazing and helping and offering to help with anything and everything.
  • Yes! I had a dream the other night where we had the RD, but for some reason I decided to try on my dress and everyone saw me in it. Not sure why that freaked me out, because I don't care, but apparently my subconscious does!
  • I havent had any wedding related dreams recently. But my problem is staying asleep. I fall into bed after working all day and doing wedding stuff all night. But at 2:30am I am wide awake and I lay there for two hours. Then when the alarm goes off I'm dragging butt. That is totally unlike me, I never hit the snooze and hop right out of bed. FI even commented on it this morning. But thankfully Im done with work until after the wedding so maybe I can sleep in a tiny bit the next two mornings.
