QOTD

Re: QOTD

  • Love reading but this semester at school is kicking my behind so I haven't had time to read anything yet.
  • I love to read, but almost never have the time to read for fun because I'm so busy with school and work!

FI makes fun of me because he says I have weird taste in books. I love chick lit and other light, fun reads but I also really like biographies and autobiographies/memoirs. With that being said, I'm currently reading Learning to Die in Miami. It's a memoir about a boy who comes to the U.S. as a refugee from Cuba in the 60s. It's really good so far, and I'm trying to finish it before I go back to student teaching on Monday!

  • To all the other Dragon Tattoo readers, I'm half way through book three!! I can't decide if I like Dragon Tattoo or Played with Fire more. I wish I had more time so I could just finish it but I only get a few minutes here and there to read. But I'm dying to know what happens and I'm going to be really sad if it leaves us hanging since there were supposed to be more books. I read that he finished the 4th and maybe the 5th before he died and had manuscripts of others. I hoping this is true and that they publish what they have! I guess there is an ownership fight between his girlfriend of like 20 years (apparently they never married because when you marry in Sweden you have to disclose your address??) and his father and brother. Sorry that got soooo long and rant-ish!

  • I used to love to read but the older I get I cant concentrate! I think I have adult ADD. I miss being able to get lost in a good book.

[QUOTE]apparently I'm the only one that love light reads (I read the genre of ChickLit!) Jane Green if my favorite author in that genre. My fav of hers is Jemina J. I just read an informative book called The New Rules of Lifting for Woman, its about working out.

Omg I love Jane Green! I'm obsessed with English-y books, I read loads of authors from England, although I can't think of any right now. I just think they have the funniest sense of humor and I love all the little phrases and words they use that are so unique to us. Sometimes I try to work them into my conversations, like for awhile I was obsessed with the word "parlor" and tried to get it in all the time. FI thinks I'm a lunatic when I have these phases, but I think he secretly likes it.

  • I also read The Help--it was very good and I highly recommend it. I'm reading Crooked Letter Crooked Letter, a mystery set in Mississippi. I'm also reading about teacher accountability in Grading Education because I'm a teacher and it's such an important topic.

  • Ditto PP on making time to read no matter how busy or crazy my life is. FI just surprised me and said he would buy me an E-reader.

I read Eat, Pray, Love when it came out (shortly after I got divorced) and I loved it. It helped me work through some issues.

Similarly, I just finished reading Commited and it really helped me with some of my thoughts on marriage. I struggle a little with the topic and reconciling my religious beliefs, my feminism, and my current place in life to the institution of marriage. It helped me think through a lot of it.

I am now reading something a lot more fun: You Will Never Blueball in This Town Again.

It's kinda like the Chelsea Handler books (which I like a lot), and it's amusing! :)
  • This doesn't make much sense to most people, but I try not to read too many books because I will get so caught up in them I won't get anything done. I will stay up late, and not do any of my chores. It is bad! :(

I like reading articles and blogs though. They are short. :)

It really is a tragic story but it's also a very moving story. He has become a wonderful single father. It's a very beautiful story.
