Re: Questions w/ PIP

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Yes

How much left do you have to do?
I feel like I am in a really good place. The only thing that I feel behind on is invitations.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of questions you originally wanted etcetc]
It is pretty close. We had planned on suits with no jackets for the groomsmen, but once I found my dress we realized it would look silly to have my super formal dress with a casual wedding party. We are also inviting triple what we had originally wanted. Oh well... the more the merrier right? :)

PIP your dress:

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?

For the most part- no. I have had my moments though. It was just a lot when I was finishing grad school and wedding planning. I feel like I am at a really great place now though!! :)

[QUOTE]Its a semi slow day at work for me, so here are some questions!

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
We're not inviting any one under 10. FI has a huge family with a lot of cousins with kids, our guest list would easily rise 20+ people if we invited children. Plus, I don't like kids

How much left do you have to do?
I feel like I have a ton left to do, but its mostly smaller things & invitations to do.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests* you originally wanted etcetc]
I really wanted to have a small wedding with just our parents and sibilings but FI wanted the "real" big wedding experience, so we compromised and are having a bigger wedding with 75 guests.

Yes and No, Its been so much fun and i've loved it, but spending all this money can be stressful! The guest list was also a stressful thing.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding? Family kids yes-the children of friends no

How much left do you have to do? I have a date, venue, florist, photographer, and dress...so pretty much everything else: officiant, MOB/MOG dresses, invites, decor, DJ, HM, favors...oy

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of questions you originally wanted etcetc]: I never really had a "vision" so I don't know what I was expecting.

PIP your dress:

Has wedding planning been stressful for you? Yes, mostly because discussing things with my FI is like pulling teeth. Everytime I tell him we have to talk about the wedding (which I limit to once or twice a week at most) he groans and we don't get very far. The most stressful thing is that he insists of designing the invitations and all the "design" elements (ie escort cards, programs, etc) himself and I CANNOT get him to talk about it or brainstorm or anything. I have a feeling I will be hitting up etsy in a couple of weeks when his deadline expires.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Yes.

How much left do you have to do?
I still have to get my dress. Print my invitations and make the address labels for them. Pick a BM dress. I have is narrowed down to 2. I am waiting until I get my dress. Pick FG dress. Start working on my centerpieces. I am sure there are many other things that I can't think of right now.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of questions you originally wanted etcetc]
So far it is turning out how I imagined it. A few things have changed. But not much.

PIP your dress: I don't have one yet. I am going shopping on Jan 14

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
Very stressful. So far I have been doing most everything by myself. FI doesn't have an opinion on much. Mom and MOH live out of state. One BM just got married so she has been busy with her wedding. I was also one of her BM. So several things for my wedding got put on hold until we were done with hers. My other BM has been helpful when I have asked for things.

ALOT! Mostly small things. Venue, DJ, Photographer, Officiant, Wedding Dress & BM dresses are all done (and a couple DIYs are done too!)

yes and no. FI is not really into it so I do it by myself with his opinon but sometimes I wish he would help more... he just says "whatever you want". I also wish a had a wedding planner... I would love to just say what I want and have someone else deal with it! haha

This seemed like a fun post to jump back into TK world with. It has been nice taking a break from things. We have been SO busy with NWR things the past week!

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
We're inviting some. We didn't want to do a blanket no kids rule, it's more of if we're closer to the family and the kids in it. No one is super young.

How much left do you have to do?
A bit...we need to pay our florist and tent rental deposits, find a videographer, order invitations, do DIY stuff (lots of this), get FI's tux and GM need to rent theirs, figure out ceremony muscians (probably using our church's), hotel blocks, finalize cake stuff, finalize food and drink.

Most of it we have plenty of time to do. I'm starting on our DIY stuff and we're doing the florist depsoit soon. The tent deposit can wait a bit longer. I do need to get on my videographer seach though.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
It is for the most part. Especially after we decided on a June wedding. I've always wanted a tented outdoor reception. My mom and FI have been so great about making sure our wedding is what I've always dreamed.

PIP your dress:

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
There are definitely times when I've been stressed about things, but it's not all the time. I just get panicky that I haven't done certain things, but there's still plenty of time. Having a long engagement has been wonderful in that regard, but FI and I are so ready to be married.

[QUOTE]Its a semi slow day at work for me, so here are some questions! Are you inviting kids to your wedding?

We are only having a total of 15 guests. My future stepson will be 4, jr. BM 12, and the ages are upwards of 15 from there.

How much left do you have to do?
Our planning has essentially been done since October. Now we're just focused on saving for all the fun payments that will be coming up.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
Totally not. For some reason, I always had the silly notion that it would have more than 15 people and we would do all the traditions, but practically speaking, it makes much more sense to go the route we're going. We already own a house together and would rather have something smaller than spend a lot of money on a crazy wedding.

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
At times. I pretty much have done all the planning and consulted FI on some stuff. I think I am more stressed out by the fact that we don't feel like any of our guests are super excited for us, since it's going to be such a chill intimate affair, but for the most part it feels like everything is falling into place.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Nope. First cousins are as "little" as we are going, and the youngest guest will be FI's 13 year old, very mature cousin.

How much left do you have to do?
I am doing pretty good..like Chelsea I am feeling the most behind with invitations. Also need to get our butts in gear and register (well finish, we've got like 3 things on there so far haha). I need all my accessories and need to figure out what I'm going to do with my hair. Still need to book our wedding pies, but that's kind of just a matter of picking a date.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of questions you originally wanted etcetc]
I had no preconcieved vision of what our wedding would look like so I'm not disapointed.

PIP your dress: Still haven't gotten it in but here is a picture of me when I bought it:

It's pretty and I am sick of waiting for it to come in!!!!

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
Yes. This is really not "my thing" and while I am BEYOND EXCITED to be married to FI the thought of spending this much money on one day makes me sick to my stomach on a regular basis. Also trying to plan from 5 hours away from where we are getting married sucks.

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?

Just familymembers, but al the kids would be above 2nd grade.

How much left do you have to do?

Not much, I have a list and have my family helping me. All the big stuff is out of the way, but a cake.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]

My wedding is turning out how I want it. Some things are a bit different but I want iot to by mine nad Fi's wedding not just my wedding.

PIP your dress:

No thankyou, I don't want FI to find it, since he gets on TK

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?

A Bit. Dealing with two different families and tring to please people got stressful. Now I just please my parents since they are paying for some of the wedding. But thankfully my parents say what ever makes me happy, they are fine with.

Yep. I don't mind kids. I have lots of nieces and nephews myself, as well as most of my friends having kiddos/

How much left do you have to do?
I think I am in a good place. I have mostly everything booked. We still need to pick out our cake, finalize or menu, order BM dresses, tuxes, finish the flowers and centerpieces, and I am sure some other little things I can't come up with off the top of my head :)

Yes it actually is. The guest list grew a little bit, but not too bad.

No just RB and FG plus 2 siblings of RB

There's only one kid in our families and that's FI's nephew. We're hoping he's going to be our ringbearer but that depends on what his BSC sister decides.

How much left do you have to do?
Nothing too huge. Cake and food tastings, bustle fitting, hair trial (already booked), make up play and do not play lists, finalize ceremony, little reception stuff like linens and placecards.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
I honestly don't think I ever really envisioned anything. The guest list is smaller than I'd have thought, but FI doesn't have many close family or friends so I cut my side down.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Nobody under the age of 16. My youngest cousin is 16 and FI's cousins are all over 18. My dad's cousins are invited and they have lots of younger kids but we're not inviting the kids.

How much left do you have to do?

All the big stuff is done. Left: find calligrapher for invitations & send them out, find favors, pick out ties and suits for GM, make programs, and whatever other little details need to be done.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
I think so. I wanted like 150 guests, we're at 188 but it's basically all family so there is not much we can do about that.

Not too bad. I have my moments but for the most part it's been good. I think it helped that we got engaged right after school ended for the summer so I had 2 months of nothing to do but wedding planning.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Very few. We have 2 FGs and 2 RBs. On FI's side there is only 1 other kid and her siblings are in the wedding so we are inviting her (she's 12 I think). We have my 2 cousins doing readings (mom's cousin's kids), but I am very close with them so I gave them a job because they would be devastated if they weren't invited. And my MOH may have to bring her son (he will be 9 months old) if her husband's cousin can't babysit. My other cousin's wife is due June 23rd and she will be nursing so she will bring the baby if it's born (she was over a week past her due date with her first).

How much left do you have to do?

We're in great shape, ahead of all of the timelines I have. I'm just procrastinating on washing 220 glass jars for the candy buffet and the wine glasses for the centerpieces.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]

For the most part. FI wanted less people, but going off my cousin's weddings I knew ours was going to be big. I didn't really have a vision of my wedding before planning because I refused to look at wedding things before I had a ring on my finger.

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
We have a RB and FG and my neices and nephews (8, 10, and 13). Fi and I had differing opinions on this. He didn't want to invite kids and I said we can't invite some and not others. So we compromised by saying we would address the invitations to just the parents and if they bring kids anyway we will be ok with that.

How much left do you have to do?
I feel like I have a ton to do but in all actuality, all of our big things are planned. Now I just have to do invitations, a few DIY things like centerpieces, and decide on a videographer. We have to meet with our venue to finalize our menu but that won't be until we have a firmer estimate of number guests attending since we are only doing heavy hors d'oeuvres.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
I never really had a firm vison of exactly what I wanted. I knew some of the little details and I have definitely made sure those were part of the wedding. I wanted it to be a little smaller (I hate being the center of attention in large crowds) and it instead is HUGE... about 350 people haha, but FI and I just know a ton of people! I find I am creating a "vision" as I go along and plan details.

PIP your dress:

(not sure why it keeps rotating the pic... sorry!)

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?

Some of it has and some of it hasn't. In the beginning I was so excited it wasn't so bad. We just opened a frozen yogurt shop and FI and I both work full time and are at the shop when we aren't at work. Literally every minute of the day. I have had a hard time finding time to plan and when I have a free moment (rare) it's hard for me to use it to plan. I took a break until after the holidays because I was starting to resent planning and I didn't want to dread/resent my wedding because it's supposed to be such a happy time. I have also done every single bit of it myself because FI has been so busy and I live at least 2 hours from my BMs and my mom has not wanted any part of the wedding (she's bipolar and lots of other things). So I plan to hit the planning hard after the new year.

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Yup, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love kids and there are a lot of them in my family. We're having four in the wedding party.

How much left do you have to do?
A decent amount but it's all the "little" stuff at least. I need to get on it.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
I would say yes for the most part. All that really matters to me is that I'm marrying the man of my dreams and my best friend. I always knew my wedding would be huge and I actually wish my church was bigger so I could invite everyone from church.

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
There won't be any kids there besides my little brother and sister, but it wasn't intentional. All the people with kids just thought the cruise was too expensive.

How much left do you have to do?
Not much. Just small details.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
Not at all! I started out with a normal home wedding, then it changed to a straight up destination wedding, now its a compromise. In the states, but going to the destination we wanted.

If we had the wedding here, there would be 300+ people, now its about 80. I really wouldn't mind if there were less people, but again a good compromise.

I feel like I have much less control over things with it being on a cruise, but then again it's probably for the better. I would have been overwhelmed with stupid stuff that I would have wasted a ton of money on.

PIP your dress:

Me in it. Although the straps still need some work. They are just sitting up there..

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
Not since we chose where to have it! The biggest stress was venue, which kinda controls budget, theme, guest list, etc.

• Wow!! Everyone has beautiful dresses! And it sounds like everyone is mostly on track for getting things done. All good things :)

Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Yup! Our wedding is going to be very relaxed, outdoor party so kids will fit right in. I am excited to come up with a few ideas for a kid's area.

How much left do you have to do?
I think I am pretty much on track. Invitations are kind of freaking me out, but other than that it's just finalize food/drink stuff, and the smaller DIY projects and details.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
It's bigger than I thought it would be, but I think everything is coming together how I invisioned it. It has definitely helped to have a wedding coordinator to bring all my ideas together!

PIP your dress:

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
Not really too bad. Other than a few small disagreements with Fi about little things. And other budget related issues. But it's been pretty fun! I love planning!

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Only our 4 children, 1 nephew (RB) and possibly FI's grandson (another RB). My MOH (my niece) will be 17 but I don't consider her a child. All of the younger children will be picked up by 9pm.

How much left do you have to do?
All the big stuff is done. Food tasting & cake tasting appts are for January. Working on table numbers (still) and will be going to IKEA on the 8th to get the frames needed. Still a bunch of little DIY items, but will be getting back on them in the coming weeks.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
I think so. This is my second marriage, but the first time around it was mostly "ok, what can we use that won't cost any money." This time while being money-savy, I am able to pick out the things I want, the dress I want, and so forth.

FI was surprised at how many guests we have, but it's mostly family, a few friends, and a few friends from my church.

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
Not too bad. I haven't had too many problems yet, hopefully it stays that way. However, I know one BM was stressing out my other BM (my aunt) about my Jack & Jill. Hopefully they handled that fine.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding? Yes but the more people I talk to that have kids that are invited said they may not be bringing them.

How much left do you have to do? Not really all that much, just some stuff here and there until we get closer.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc] Pretty close

PIP your dress: Can't, I'm not on my computer.

Has wedding planning been stressful for you? Not really.

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Yep! We love kids and have a bunch of younger cousins that I can't imagine not being there.

How much left do you have to do?
A lot of crafty projects, preparation stuff with the church - it seems like there's a long list in my head, but I'm actually making good progress.

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would?
For the most part - there are definitely more guests than I thought we would have but I'm excited to celebrate with everyone.

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
I was starting to get stressed about a few family issues, but I decided people should be able to be civil for one day. We're lucky to have a great extended family who are so excited to help with anything!

• Are you inviting kids to your wedding?
Yes, I have a lot of younger cousins and my family is all really close, so I couldn't imagine not inviting them.

How much left do you have to do?
It feels like a lot! But it's mostly just crafty stuff that I have plenty of time left to do, or stuff that can't be done until later

Is your wedding turning out to be exactly what you thought it would? [ie: same style you thought it would be, same number of guests you originally wanted etcetc]
Not quite. I never imagined I would be spending this much money on a wedding, but both of our families are large and everyone wanted to come, so it's about 100 people more than I wanted. It's going to be the same style I want, thank goodness. Just more expensive/larger than anticipated.

PIP your dress:

Has wedding planning been stressful for you?
Sort of. I'm not getting married in my hometown, so having to travel to book vendors was stressful. And the reception hotel is not very good at getting back to us about things. But so far, things have been fairly smooth. (Knock on wood)
