Who wants to play a game?

Re: Who wants to play a game?

• Zims, I'm graduating this year with a philosophy degree, but I'm going to graduate school for elementary ed.

You mentioned going back to Texas, are you originally from there? If so what made you choose Iowa for school?
whoa, all running questions, my favorite!! Daria: I dabbled in barefoot.  Mostly I run on the road, but when I am not racing over the summers I will run 1 mile here and there barefoot, it's a lot slower (2 minutes maybe) per mile usually but it's really good for foot strengthening.  It's too cold now, but we did it occasionally after cross.  <strong>Are you thinking of trying it?!</strong>
Posted by Megbo2012
<div>Maybe...but since I live in the city, if I run outdoors its on the road or on stone paths-not very barefoot friendly. Can you run barefoot on a treadmill? My building has a fitness room and I'm usually alone down there, so I don't have to worry about looking strange in a gym.</div>

Taekwondo together, actually. We're very supportive of each other.
• Daria, I would recommend THESE if you live in the city or want to run on the treadmill.  I feel like I wouldn't run on a treadmill barefoot because the surface is slick and awkward.  These shoes are as minimal as you can get.  If you don't like the toes you can try Nike frees or any other "minimal" shoes out there.
• Daria,

What's your favorite thing to do in Manhattan? What do you hate seeing when people come to visit?

I was born in Texas and live there for a bit then we moved up to Iowa to be closer to family. I love the school I chose and FI goes here as well but FI wants to go to med school in Texas and we aren't super close to the family up here

<div>My favorite thing is just being in Central Park or Carl Schulz Park. I also love walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and getting pizza at Grimaldis and ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory which are right under the bridge. </div><div>
</div><div>I Seriously. Totally. Utterly. Loathe and Despise Time Square. I will do anything to avoid going there, I usually send visitors on their own. I also hated taking people down to the World Trade Center (before the memorial opened up). For years it was just a hole in the ground, you couldn't see anything, and it's just a total construction mess down there. I actually haven't been inside the memorial yet, we'll probably go this summer.</div>

<div>Everything, but I am a cake fiend. Fi actually proposed on cupcakes because they are my favorite thing in the world. </div><div>
</div><div>Restaurants I recommend: I LOVE all the food trucks in the city, some of them have actual physical locations but Taim (falafel), Mexicue (bbq tacos), Schnitzel and Things, Bistro Truck...all amazing. My favorite pizza is Grimaldis (Brooklyn) or Angelos (midtown). My favorite girly place is Alice's Tea Cup which does traditional English tea. Shake Shack for burgers. I don't really go to the well known places so I don't have any reviews for them.</div><div>
</div><div>I've never been to the Armory track. I used to live in Astoria and we had an outdoor track there that was really nice, my knees miss it.  Thanks for the shoe recommendation!</div>

• Hmmm that's a good one since I am currently trying to figure out what else I could do with my life!  I love doing anything that requires lots of organization so I am thinking I would love to get into event planning of some kind.  I took a few event planning classes in first year university and I really liked it!

• prioritize guests over things. I loathe the current mindset of needing to have a gourmet plated dinner, so you cut the guest list down to bare bones. I'm loving my 150 guest list with a buffet and cheap decorations.
• Pay for your own wedding, if at all possible. We've avoided A LOT of conflict with our families because it's our money. Also don't send STDs, or send them just to your VIPs. It's seems like so many people run into trouble because they no longer want to invite certain people, or their budget changes, etc.

We're paying for our wedding. I knew my parents couldn't and his never offered. I love the control that comes with that though. You don't have to take any suggestions because they're not paying (FMIL has been bad)
