Tell Us More Please...

Since we don't do Knottie of the Day/Week anymore, there are so many knotties that I don't feel I know much (if anything) about. I am nosey and want to know you ladies...so please, if you are relatively new here (let's say you joined since 2011), tell us about you! Just one thread where you can share a snippet of your plans, your hobbies, how you met your sweetie, if you have or want kids, what your job is, a major goal of yours...that type of stuff. Even if you aren't new and still want to share, please do!

    GREAT thread!!

I never really made an intro thread, i think i just jumped into the boards w/out properly introducing myself(how rude) LOL.

Anyways, FI and i met in college. I put the move on him. LOL. There was something soooo intriguing about him (and he was cute too), so i made my move. We've been planning since last october, but i didnt fully get into it till the beginning of this year. We've been together for 6 yrs and i love him to pieces!!! He is such a goof ball, and so carefree and  those are the 2 qualities i love more than anything about him.

Something about myself - - -  i'm 26, i have a twin sis (fraternal) whom i LOVE to DEATHHHHH, she's a lefty i'm a righty, she's tall i'm short, she's dark, i'm light, LOL...there's a wholeee lot, but i'll spare ya! I also have an older sis and bro whom are also the center of my heart.

FI and i dont have any kids yet, we plan on working on this the NIGHT OF the wedding (lmao), we both want kids. No pets, though FI wants a dog.

    I'm a Financial Sales Consultant, he's a Case Manager.

Our major goal for right now is working towards purchasing our first home together. This will be a DREAM come true and with God by our side we should be just fine!!!

    Here's one of my favorite pic of FI and i;

Ok, I'll go too :) I introduced myself awhile ago but I haven't posted much, I plan to be on here much more gettiing tips and getting to know everyone!  Anyways...

FI and I met at the mall last year :)  He scoped me out, I got his number and we talked then met for lunch.  He had me after that :)  We got engaged November of 2010.

Our ceremony and reception are at a hotel here in Dallas.  We will have a lot of out of town guests since I am originally from Long Beach, CA and he is from Louisiana.  I have a full-event wedding planner gifted from my mommy and she has been so great :)  I am working my full time and a part time job to make this a great day and don't have much time to call vendors, etc.

I am 27 turning 28 in September, and I have one half brother.  My FI has 2 brothers and 3 half siblings!  We are having 7 BMs and 7 GMs in the wedding.

FI has a four year old daughter that I love to death.  I have a half yorkie, half chihuahua puppy girl named Duffy that I adopted last year that I spoil :)  We want more kids maybe a couple years after the wedding, hopefully two.

I work at DFW Airport, and part time at Dillards.  One goal of both me and FI is to own our own business in the future.  Don't know what, but we hope we will make it happen one day!

I agree great thread. There are so many new faces I try to keep up.

     - FI and I met at a pool hall 3 1/2 years ago. I thought he was so sexy and his accent made me smile. We talked on the phone every day for a week before we went on our first date. I knew right away that I wanted him to be my man.

     - I am 31 and he is 33. I work for a commodities trading firm and he works for an Oil & Gas Company.

     - We have no pets but he wants a dog after we take up the carpet and lay down hard wood floors.

     - So far it looks like we will have 250 wedding guests. To him this is a small wedding but to me this is HUGE!

     - I have one son and he has no kids. He wants a child asap so I think we are going to try to conceive on the honeymoon. Fingers crossed! We have plenty of time. We will be in London for a week and Ghana for a week.

Here is a picture of us the day he proposed on my birthday.

Glad you started this thread! For some reason it's easier for me to add to a thread than write a new one. Anyway, I met FI about 5 years ago, however we didn't start dating until 2008. We became google chat buddies and that's how we fell for each other. He knew how to keep me interested and he was so much fun to be with. We work well together.

He has two children (boy and girl) and I have one uber cute schnoodle named Ashe that I love to death and spoil rotten. He didn't like dogs too much at first, but now he spoils her just as much as I do. We want to start a family pretty soon.

We are both 29 (me only for another month sigh..maybe) and I work as a rehabilitation counselor and he is a tech consultant.

So far the wedding planning has been fairly easy. Mainly due to some great folks around us that have been super supportive. My personal motto throughout this whole thing has been "I don't want a production". We have a website on weddingwindow.com but I don't know if I can link that or not.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

It was all she wrote after then and we worked on our friendship and relationship and have been engaged since Feb 2010.

Neither of us has kids, I'm 29 and he's 32. He's a computer tech, and I'm a program manager. Neither of us are pet people because of the up keep lol

The wedding plannins is coming along and we're at the home stretch lol. Things are getting hetic as the close it get's but we still make time to have date nights and not think about the wedding. I met my FH at work in 1989.  Yep, that is 1989.  I should say that is when we first laid eyes on each other.  We started "talking" 5 years later in 1994.  The relationship was off and on for many years while we both battled through the demons of past failed relationships.  In 2004 is when I would say we finally settled upon each other.

He has one daughter and I have a son.  Together we have one furbaby.  We are probably the oldest couple on the AAW board and we are proud of it.  Smile  I am 43 and he is 49.  Nothing like well seasoned love let me tell you.  LOL!

I am a Controller and he is a Network Engineer.  He is a big bike lover and has three!  They are show bikes let me tell you.  He also loves RC planes, cars, and boats.  He has very expensive hobbies let me tell you.  The usual cost for one of the RC planes is near $1,000.  Ugh!!  As for me, I am a simple gal loving all things outdoors, my garden.  I think my extravagance will be all things related to the house we purchase.

Our wedding date is 9/1/12.  This will be my first and only marriage and his second and last marriage.  Bank on that!

We are inviting 100 to the wedding but hoping for a final number of 75. The wedding will be grown and sexay!  I love wedding planning and am having a ball so far.  I am happy to say that the planning is right on schedule.

Hi ladies, I've posted an intro a while back but I don't post as much as I should. But with 8 months to go, i will def need the help of all the lovely African American brides and brides that are now wives assistance.

FI and I met 2 1/2 years ago on a dating site.... Sshh that is a secret and according to FI is a True E Hollywood story....LOL Let me be honest when I say that was something new for the both of us and I have never talked to anyone on any dating site. He sent me a message and me being the woman I am, I had to see what he had to say.  So we talked on the phone and he wanted to meet me to go to dinner. Before I went to dinner with him, I checked out he's background to see if he had any thing that I should be aware of...LOL

I am 26 and will be turning 27 in December, FI just turned 25 in June I currently work as an Administrative Assistant at a Travel Agency and go to school. FI is a premise technician. We have one little boy together... Our Kayden Reece!!! We are currently in the process of planning our dream wedding and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.... He is a true blessing from GOD.

Ok wow... this is agreat post and I am glad to add to it. Ok My name is Kindra but I am starting to go by Kay I am 31 years old ( and as my dad just reminded me the other day) I will be 32 in October.

    THIS IS REALLY LONG SORRY!

I met FI...when I was a junior (1999-2000) in college. Some friends tried to hook us up at this party and he wasn't feeling me. He said hello ( he is very polite) and then drove off. He thought he was fly because he had a car and stuff. Then  the following fall we met up again in a history class. We began talking and he had his own place, needless to say I spent many weekends over there because I had 3 roommates at the time. And he had real cable, I just regular campus TV... LOL

We dated on and off until 2002 and then I moved back to L.A. He stayed in school In San Diego (about 2 hours away). We broke up, he came to L.A. to see me and his family a few times. We got back together, we broke up, we got back together, we broke up. I had another boyfriend but FI was all trying to tell me he was ready for a real relationship.  I wasn't hearing him so he met another girl. She lived like 2 hours away and they didn't last very long. I personally believe he used her to make me jealous because he didn't really like her. He says she was a very nice person and any guy would be lucky to have her ( but just not him). He says she is an all American chicken sandwich, really healthy and great to eat, but he prefers cheeseburgers (which I guess is me-- something with some flava! haha).

We started talking again when they broke up and quickly were back together. He proposed in 2008, purchased a condo and we were on our way to happily ever after. I got cold feet. The proposal was a shock and I didn't see it coming. I moved into the condo for 3 days and moved out and broke it off. I don't think I was ready to get married.

We stopped ALL COMMUNICATION after that. I dated other people and who knows what he did. When we broke up in the past we always texted or emailed or something, but this time nothing. At the end of the summer I had this huge house party and some how he ended up there. That night we danced, had some shots and had a good time. we started talking very slowly. From there things were totally different than the past. I guess we both grew up. In between time we both went to counseling (not knowing about each other) and we really grew up.

We ended up moving in together last Christmas. His roommate moved back home and I found a tenant for my house and I moved back into the originally purchased condo.  We decided  in April 2010 that we wanted to get married the following year. He did not propose again, we just decided. Then we purchased a ring and started planning.

I am an elementary teacher ( looking for a new job) and he is in Real Estate. He has decided he wants to go back to school finish his degree and go to grad school. He says I inspired him because I just finished grad school in June.  He is 1 year older than me, birthdays are 7 days apart and we have no kids.

We plan to start the kids on April 7, 2012---- that's the wedding night! Woo Hoo let the  fun begin....

That picture is too cute! I think it would be really cool to have a twin. I have always wanted one, but I don't think the world was ready. ;) Best wishes to you and your FI on your future home purchase. I love how you've claimed God's favor over it already! I can also totally dig you going for what YOU wanted when you met your man. I am not that bold, but I respect it, for real. Nice meeting you!

Owning a business with your future hubby sounds like a great way to build wealth and get lots of time together! Good luck with that. You are about my age, I turned 28 in May. Duffy sounds precious. I want an English Bulldog, but my husband is being resistant. I know I'll get it in the end, but I wish it wasn't such a tough sale. Your mom is thebomb.com for gifting your full service planner. Enjoy your stress-free journey to the altar babe! Thanks for sharing.

I said that I didn't want a production, but in trying to please everyone else, that's exactly what it became. This is a great thread!! I want to play...

FI and I met almost 2 years ago at a club. I was in the corner so ready to go home and he stepped on my foot while walking by. I tapped him on the shoulder and when I looked at how fine he was time stopped and I promise you I forgot about my foot. LOL

He proposed on our one year anniversary and I cannot wait to marry him. Our wedding date is 6/30/12.   I am 29 and he is 34. I work at a mental health agency and I am a full time graduate student pursing my M.Ed in School Counseling. I am probably going to be in school for the rest of my life because I am going to get my doctorate in Educational Leadership. My FI is a school counselor for a residential school.

We have no children together but he has an 11yr old son, whom I adore.  We plan on having some children of our own 2 years after we are married.

Oh and yes I am am a proud member of theeeeeeeeeeeee best sorority in the world. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnncorporated. LOL

1989? I take my hat off to you and your FI! I bet you two know each other inside and out so I have total faith that you are right when you say we can bank on this being your last wedding! I am excited for you for your relationship coming full circle and that grown and sexy vibe that you speak of has me already anxious for pictures! :) I can relate to your FI having expensive hobbies...my DH loves things with motors or plugs and that gets pricey quickly. I'm a shopper, but lately, like you...it's been all about shopping for the house as opposed to my usual clothes, shoes, bags habits. Thanks for posting!

Before I went to dinner with him, I checked out he's background to see if he had any thing that I should be aware of...LOL I am 26 and will be turning 27 in December, FI just turned 25 in June I currently work as an Administrative Assistant at a Travel Agency and go to school. FI is a premise technician. We have one little boy together... Our Kayden Reece!!! We are currently in the process of planning our dream wedding and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.... He is a true blessing from GOD.

I have heard of so many people meeting online lately! Maybe there is really something to it? I'm guessing it's successful because you get to sift through the foolishness first! Lol at the background check! Do you travel alot? I ask because of your work in the industry. Good luck with school and planning. So happy that you see your FI as God's blessing to you. That means He is already at the reins of your relationship and we all know that what He brings together can and will last!

[QUOTE]Ok wow... this is agreat post and I am glad to add to it. LOL We dated on and off until 2002 and then I moved back to L.A.

Hey Kay! I'm dead at the cheeseburger! Lol...that is too funny! I teaach too! Just realized that I love it as opposed to like it so I'm about to dedicate myself to the field completely. I teach high school though. 7 day apart of your birthdays...that's cool. A great reason for birthday trips. Your story reads like a movie and I hung on every word. I am glad that you all waited until you were truly ready. Timing is so important. Best wishes to you both!

[QUOTE]This is a great thread!! I want to play... FI and I met almost 2 years ago at a club. I was in the corner so ready to go home and he stepped on my foot while walking by. I tapped him on the shoulder and when I looked at how fine he was time stopped and I promise you I forgot about my foot. LOL He proposed on our one year anniversary and I cannot wait to marry him. LOL Favorite Pic of FI and I

Hey Sister Greek! You had a typo at the end...you know the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is the best Sorority in the world right? ;)

All in fun, thanks for sharing! You and your FI seem to have a lot in common based on your career choices. That's cool! I will be in school forever so I can relate to that. I'm hoping to teach for the next ten years or so then get into administration. I'm loving the classroom right now though. I am so interested in knowing what you said to your FI after he turned around when you first met...I laughed so hard at you saying time stopped. You just got all googly-eyed over your chocolate drop huh? Lol...he must have liked what he saw too.

LOL, yea, yea. Hey Sister Greek!

Awwww, how long have you been teaching? I am glad that you love being in the classroom. I do love the fact that my FI and I have a lot in common. He and I are 6 days apart too, birthday wise.

Girl, I tapped him on his shoulder and said to him, "Do you know that you just stepped on my foot? " I was angry, I had just got a fresh pedicure that day too, LOL. But as soon as I saw him, all bets were off....lol

To this day, he thinks that I saw him and put my foot out for him to step on. I say he saw me and purposely stepped on my foot.

Hello ladies!!! I haven't posted much but I do responded to other knottie posted at times. I plan to come on more to for tips and learn more from all of you lovely knotties. My name is Vonetra and I am from the Bronx (born and raised)

My FI and I met back in HS in 1997. At that time, we were only friends and never dated (I had a BIG BIG BIG crush on him). After we graduated from HS we lost touch because we both went away to school. In 2005, he found me on FB and sent me a message with his phone number and I called and it was like we never missed a beat! I went to my HS "catching up with old friends" dinner (more like a class reunion) and my FI was there. We talked the whole night and he asked me on date. Our first date was great. Had dinner at Carmine's (Ladies if your ever visit NYC please go Carmine's!!! The food is GREAT!!!!) After dinner, we walk around the city. After many dates we finally made it official after Thanksgiving (11/26/2005)

My FI and I are both 28 (Our bdays are three months apart: His in November and Mine in February) we have no kids and  I work for Mattel Inc and He is a cop.

He proposed this year on my birthday (February 24th) and our wedding date is July 27th, 2012 in New Rochelle at Juliano's. Our guest list was cut sooooooooo many times but we both came to an agreement  that we will invite 100-110 people to our wedding.

Wedding planning.....is something else lol I mean between people trying to invite themselves, being stalking by my FI's cousin because she wants to be in our wedding LOL( loooooooooong story) and other crazy things but I dont let that get to me and I am having fun planning Smile.

I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with my FI....patiently waiting for July 27th, 2012 to come...Smile
