Any regrets so far? (not rsvp declines)

After reading saracks title of post "first regrets" I thought it meant she was regretting something, but once I opened the post & read on I found it was about something else.

So I wanted to post what I "thought" it meant....

Is there anything that you regret doing? making DIY? booking? etc...

I am crossing my fingers I wont regret our photographer. Some of you know who we booked (to save money) and it was just not the wises choice. I thought since they had a booth at a wedding show it meant they were going to be wonderful.... well we've had a few issues, I addressed them and she stepped to the plate to fix them!! Which was VERY good of her. We will see how the wedding goes.

Not really any regrets, just things I second guess.  I'm always second-guessing my dress, maybe I should've gone with something simpler and flowy like I originally wanted.  I second guess whether we should've kept to the original plan of a DW in Hawaii.  And lately I've been second-guesing my venue, not that there's anything wrong with it, but maybe if I had looked harder I could've found something even better.  Maybe we should've done e-pics.

Oh well, its mostly done, I'm good with it.  I just wish it'd hurry up and get here, but not before I lose some weight!  Oh, that's my biggest regret!  Not getting my butt in shape sooner.  That's major.

jennuinne - that's a good regret for me too! Getting my butt in shape!! It's not too late though!! :) I am going to start getting up at 5 am (I get up at 6:15 now) and going jogging and then I am going to come back and get my tush on the elliptical!!! I still have 2 months and a couple weeks!!

I regret not buying a video camera the week before the wedding. I didn't hire a videographer. My parents told me "don't worry someone will video tape it". Well no one did, so now I don't have video of our ceremony, which makes me a little sad, but I don't regret how I allicated my money for the wedding. Just wish I bought a cheapy video camera and had someone film it.

We have a camcorder and I want one of my family members to record it. FI thinks it's a stupid idea... men!
  • edited December 2011
angstocker - Everytime my FI mentions "no one watches wedding videos!" I pointedly tell him, "Well, then what will you do when I die tragically!??! You'll sit there with your bottle of scotch, crying and staring at a blank tv?" :D

My brother is recording ours. It's something he enjoys and then he goes and fiddles with it in some computer program to do titling, etc. He didn't want to be in the wedding, he said he preferred that.

I regret running out of time to find THE perfect cake. I'm happy with mine, I just wish I had more time to taste EVERY cake out there to find my DREAM crumb. But I'm weird like that. :)

I also regret not being able to get in shape. I managed to lose 20 pounds and keep off about 16-17, but I'm noticing how super-jiggly my upper arms have become. However since my stupid unknown injury, I can't DO exercises to take care of it since I can't be strenuous.

I also REALLY regret not doing my pomanders 2 months ago like I had originally planned. We thought we were buying a house and I figured they would get really mushed in the move and I'd have more space in the house than our apartment so I'd make them after the move. Well, we didn't buy the house and aren't moving and now I'm crunched on time to make them.

I regret making my first Gocco project the invites.  Actually, part of me kind of wishes I'd just ordered invites from somewhere, but then I realize I wouldn't have ended up with something as unique as what I have.  Still, I do kind of wish I'd just done the easy route so I could have not been so stressed and worried about them.

I still partially regret choosing one of my BMs as a BM.  I'm hoping she'll keep to her word and no extra drama will come, but the added stress so far isn't worth it.

I regret ordering the original BM dresses in Thailand when I did.  I also regret going with the first set of favors I went with rather than just choosing ones they already had done so I at least knew what I was getting.

    1. Over 2 year engagement
    2. Wishing that my mom will come around and be more involved earlier on in the planning process.
    3. I wish we did not have to have our wedding on a Friday

In the end, I won't say I "regret" anything but I would rather have had a few things differently;)

Hm, I think I regret not spending more time to shop for a dress.  I ADORE my dress, so it's ok in the end, but I wish I'd taken the time to really enjoy the shopping experience.  I regret not starting sooner to try to lose weight.  I wish I hadn't spent so much time trying to get my mom's approval of various details.

But overall, I don't regret any of our big decisions (knock on wood).

    1. not being in better shape (granted i have 5 months, but considering how the last five months (all of 2 pounds), i ain't going to drop the weight unless i pickup an eating disorder)

    2. getting married sooner, its been almost 10.5 years now (relates to 1, the older i get the harder it seems to lose weight)

    3. not going to filene's bridal sale or equivalent... that would have been major fun. but short-ish engagement/wrongside of country/not sample size body prevents this

    4. debating whether i am going to regret NOT having a professional photog.
We are having a family friend with an awesome camera be in charge of taking pix, but i dunno if this is something i am going to regret.

i could probably go on, but this is good for now. Nothing to major, mostly doubts.

I regret hiring our DJ... I honestly question if he will show up the day of the wedding!

There are a couple invites I regret sending. :)

I regret overly stressing out over certain details earlier in our engagement... it really sabotaged my attempt at weight loss, and in the end, everything worked out perfectly fine!

a part of me wishes we had still had a DW in Mexico like we originally wanted. i know our wedding here will be beautiful, and we'll be surrounded by people who love us, but Mexico would've been amazing.

I wish i had ordered my dress from Pearls & Lace instead of being pressured by my mom to order it at the shop that we were at. i would've had much better customer service, it would be closer to where we live, and i really wish i would've given them the sale.

One thing I definitely do NOT regret is ordering our invitations. Hearing all these stories from everyone on how much of a PITA these things are, makes me really happy that my mom convinced me to not DIY, and instead ordered them. Plus, Fi loves the embossed (or whatever its called, the raised up) writing... it makes it feel fancy. :)

The only thing I regret is not hiring a professional photographer, even though I don't regret saving the money we would have spent on one.

I regret ordering my dress a size smaller. I regret not going to the gym like I should have because I have around 25 lbs to loose in 2 months. UGH! other wise no regrets

The only thing I regret is not changing the time of the ceremony when I first wanted to. We set the time at 2pm, thinking it would be a bit cheaper and people wouldn't drink as much since it's earlier in the day. I wish we'd changed it to 5 so we would have more time to get ready and take pictures beforehand, plus we ended up doing a full meal instead of  the variety of apps that we had been planning on, so 5 would make more sense... I asked  my mom if she thought I should change it and she just said "whatever you want to do!"

well now the wedding is on Saturday so it's a little late :)
