Cake topper...

My cake will have pearl banding around two tiers of the cake. So I have searched the internet for Pearl cake toppers and I found one...really didnt like it. Soooo I am going to order MMC (Mike, Mcknight, Casey) from this site

I am going to order one 5 inch M and two 3 inch letters in M and C. They are going to be 1/8 inch thick. I am going to spray paint them a pearlized ivory then apply these to them

I think I've got the vision... Are you going to do a trial run first... to work the kinks out.. Are the wood letters heavy?.. and then with the pearls attached.. to go on top of the cake??. Just curious.

I plan to do the same....how much from that site because I keep finding those are too expensive or not formal enough....better yet im gonna visit it and enjoy browsing

i made ours!!! bought the letter at the craft store for a dollar and glues swvorski crystals. time consuming but oh well. i also blinged out the cake cutting set and plan on putting them and the topper in a shawdow box and hanging it in the kitchen :-)

Did you check Etsy? Also do you know how wide your top tier will be? Is it buttercream or fondant?

Of course I am going to a trial run! But I lurk on weddingbee.com boards and a lady used this site and made her own topper. The 1/8 inch thick letter is light and adding the pearls won't make it heavier. She also made her own stakes to go on the bottoms of the letters to insert into the cake.

No I didn't check etsy. Didn't even think to lol! From the bakers I have spoken with my top tier will be wide enough for this topper an I hate fondant! Buttercream all the way!!

Thanks for posting the link Case..I was going to use craftyeddy but think i might go this route. I like the pearl idea. I see the letters come with stakes too. Might not have to make your own.
