My mom finally agreed to a Harry Potter inspired wedding!!!

So elated - we wanted a rustic, vintage fantasy feel, and after showing her a few photos from other HP inspired weddings, she's on board! Any suggestions, tips or resources?!

Yay another Harry Potter bride!!!! Which direction are you taking it full on hogwarts sorting hat etc., or more along the lines of Bill and Fleur's wedding, or what we imagine Harry and Ginnys wedding looked like.

  • Woo!!!

Theres a lady on etsy that makes paper flowers, and she's making flowers for my bouquet from The Unbreakable Vow, and The Princes Tale like dirt cheap!

I'm going to have real flowers, and these itty bitty paper roses in my bouquet, so Snapes love for Lily will be surrounding me on my wedding day.

Super cheesy. I know. But it makes my heart melt.

  • Update: We found an AMAZING Marauder's Map wedding invitation on etsy...it actually folds out and the footprints have little notes about our romance, first kiss, etc. Since my mom is paying, her rule is that it has to be subtle and not childish. Basically, if someone didn't KNOW Harry Potter, they would just think floating keys as escort cards was still a cute idea. So no robes, sorting hats or wands. My favorite part is that she's actually only seen like, 1 or 2 films and never read the books so my FI and I keep explaining things to her - she loves white feathers (which are inspired by hedwig) and she thinks the golden snitch is the cutest thing ever (my bridesmaids are wearing bracelets with snitches).

If I had only four bridesmaids, we'd dress them in differing colors according to houses but I have five think we'll do something else with that. The ceremony will be much more traditional, and my FI likes the idea of doing a wedding that would happen in the wizarding world - not a "Harry Potter" themed wedding. We're trying to come up with cute ideas for our ring bearer, a unity ceremony, guest book, etc. Thoughts?

  • Include butterbeer no meal or celebration was complete in the wizarding world without some.
