Easter Poll

What are your plans for the 3-day Easter weekend?  (It's only about 2 1/2 weeks away!!)

Will you be working/in school on Good Friday?

How do you plan to celebrate?

DH might have to work his 2nd job that whole weekend.  I will have Friday off and haven't yet decided what to do.

I've invited my parents to come to Easter service on Saturday night at our church (so that they can attend their own church on Easter) and I may go with DH to their church on Easter.

My parents usually have the whole family over for Easter dinner but this year my sisters will be together in NY and DH will probably be working so it will just be my parents, me and possibly BIL's parents.  Hopefully it will be a relaxing weekend!

Oh - I forgot to mention that I like to go to Emmitsburg, MD to the Grotto of Lourdes to go through the stations of the cross around Easter weekend (the stations are outside - it is just beautiful).  But it is usually mobbed on Easter weekend so we may go the weekend before.

I have the week before Easter off for Spring Break, so I'll be home working on DIY wedding projects and getting a cabinet painted for the Kansas kitchen. :)

Coloring Easter Eggs at Grandma's house on Friday or Saturday depending on when my brother gets home.
Family time after church on Sunday.

My church is having a community service at the new middle school gym in town.  Our sanctuary holds ~500 while the gym holds ~1,000.  There are yard signs all over town advertising the service and we're expecting a lot of people to attend.
After church, my grandma hosts Easter Dinner at her house.  Most of dad's cousins will be there, too.

I'm not doing anything - I have to work on Good Friday because coporate world doesn't understand that this is a holiday too. I may go down to FIs house but we'll see.

Thursday will be my last day at work, and a friend is throwing me a small shower/going away happy hour. Then, I am driving and FI is flying to Houston to see our family for Easter (also where we are getting married).
I am not sure exactly what the plans are for the weekend, but I think that we are going to stay with FMIL in Beaumont for the first part of the weekend. We will go to Easter service with her. Then go to Houston to have Easter dinner with my mom's family at my grandparents' house. FI is leaving Monday around lunch to go back to AZ, and I am staying for a week to try and finish wedding plans.

I don't work right now, but FI will have to work on Good Friday.  I already stuffed the plastic Easter eggs with candy to hide for him, and he's going to hide mine.  I told him I was doing it and he looked at me, deer in the headlights, and said, "We didn't do it last year."  I just started laughing and told him it was our newest tradition.  We like to be kids sometimes.  :)

I have school on Good Friday, but the Christian group I'm apart of on campus is doing a Good Friday service, so I'm excited about that.

    Saturday there's an all-campus egg hunt. I'm such a kid...I'm so excited!

Sunday FI and I will go to church and then we're having Easter dinner with another family in the area.

Three-day Easter weekend?  Those exist? ;-)

Probably church and dinner with friends from church.  We usually make a big feast and eat whatever we have given up for Lent.

I'm not sure yet what we'll do for Easter, but I do know wherever I am, I'll find a church to go to that Sunday, just like we did last Easter when FI and I were visiting his family in SC!
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

Aw Joy, that is such a shame (and anyone else who has to work on Good Friday). I am glad that school districts still get Good Friday off.

I have no clue what our plans are yet. Church has a Maundy Thursday dinner (going to that) and a Good Friday service (going to that too). We will go to church on Easter, but I'm not sure whose family we will eat with. Maybe both.

I work for a financial company so we get all of the New York Stock Exchange holidays.  Apparently Wall Street believes in Jesus Christ because they celebrate Good Friday and the markets are closed.  Fortunately for me, that means we get to celebrate it too!

i'm not sure what we're doing for good friday, but probably church if there is a service for it. saturday the 23rd we're signing our lease for our apartment!!! we're sooo excited!!! and we're probably going to help out at the easter egg hunt (FI's family owns a dairy and does a lot of community events like an annual easter egg hunt that we usually help with) and then church on sunday and lunch with FI's family most likely. the thing that stinks though is that i go to a Bible college and we don't have a 3 day weekend :(

Are you in the south?  We definitely do not get Good Friday off, never have.  It'll be school as usual around here.

I have performances Th/Fri/Sat and H has to work Sunday, so we will likely be heathens and do nothing to celebrate.  Since we close the show on Sat night I doubt i'll even make it to church Sunday as I'll be completely wiped out.

I am.  There would be some angry parents and students around here if we didn't get Good Friday off.  Most of our students even cross out "Spring Break" on the calendars in their planners and write "Easter Break" over it.  Same for Winter/Christmas break.

I actually have to work on Easter :( Boo! But I'm working only a 4.5 hour shift in the evening so its all good. We go to services on Saturday night anyway. I have the following 4 days straight off and its FI's spring break from teaching so we have some stuff planned. I'm going to make Easter dinner, just haven't decided which day to do it...before, after, or even day of since I don't work til 4! FI said something about a honeybaked ham but I really want to do lamb since its traditional and I love it. I will also be baking traditional Greek tsoureki, which is a citris flavored sweet bread. Its baked in a braided shape with red easter eggs cooked into it. Traditionally Greek women spend Good Friday dyeing eggs red to symbolize the blood of Christ and when the bread is eaten on Easter, people knock the eggs together and whoever's egg doesn't crack is supposed to have good luck for the year. We just like to eat the bread haha. But over the holiday I've got my dress fitting (FI is coming with me NOT to the fitting but driving with me since its over an hour away then we're hanging out down south, maybe Ft Lauderdale) and we have a meeting at our venue to discuss menu and decor and such. I'm hoping we can figure out how to attend some of our church's things but we may not be able to depending on my work schedule...we'll see!

FI and I both have Good Friday off.  We were going to go visit his parents for a long weekend, but his parents decided they're going to visit FBIL at college, so we'll meet them on Sunday for Easter Brunch.

I don't think it is just the South that gets Good Friday off. I know most school districts around here still get Good Friday off, at least I know my old school district does.

I didn't get Good Friday off in undergrad, but now I'm at a private university for law school and I get the day off again, hurray! I don't have set plans yet, but most likely going to J's side of the family on Easter morning and then over to my family for Easter afternoon/evening. I'm guessing my mom will still make an Easter basket for me too, heh.

<div>Nice.  My job doesn't even give me some of the regular holidays.  The religious schools I attended gave us half day on Good Friday.  </div>
