Prayer Requests - Weeks of 6/19 & 6/26

Does anyone have any requests this week?  Or praises?

If you've requested prayer in the recent past and your prayer has been answered, I'd love to hear it!  It is so encouraging to hear answers to prayer.

My mom is in the hospital right now.  Yesterday she was sick and having stomach pains and thought she had food poisoning.  Today those stomach pains became chest pains, so my dad took her to the ER.  She has been admitted to the hospital by a cardiologist and they are running tests.  We haven't heard any results.

Prayer ... for God to reveal to me the next job he has in store for me!  Oh, and for RSVP stress to disappear... still waiting on about 32 RSVP cards to show up in the mail, URGH!!!

Praise ... wedding planning has been smooth thus far.  Only a few minor bumps in the road, and they so FAR have been easy to solve.

My two best friends are interning in youth ministry this summer and they both started their first week this week, which happens to be the time the youth groups are going on mission trips. One is in Utah and the other is on an Indian reservation here in WA for two weeks with a group of 40 kids they've never met before. Awesome, right? If you all would pray for them, it would make me soo glad!

I have 2 praises - first, my 14-year-old cousin got lost in the woods in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan last week, she went out for a run and didn't come home.  They had to call in search and rescue, and they found her at 5:30 the next morning, thankfully unhurt aside from scrapes and bruises!

Second, my grandpa was trying to carry a lawnmower over some flowers and fell and the mower fell on top of him.  He was bruised, but not nearly as hurt as he could have been.  I'm so thankful for God's protective hand in both these situations!

HUGE PRAISE - About a month ago I fractured my ankle.  I haven't been able to drive for a month or take a shower, walk, go up & down stairs on my feet, etc.

I went for my follow-up appointment to the orthopedic dr. this morning and he said I can start walking again and driving.  YAY!  It has been so hard to depend on other people for the last month.

I'm supposed to go on vacation this weekend for a week and now I'll be able to go and drive myself there (10 hr. drive).  I'm just so happy.

A franchise owner is coming to FI's work today and he is really worried that they are doing subpar.  He's afraid that they're going to "clean house," fire everyone and start over.  He is really worried about losing his job today, and of course it's got me worried.  Please pray for job protection for FI and peace for both of us!

    Follow up from my post...

Best friend #1 made it home from the reservation this evening. I spent three and a half summers up on that same reservation and he came over to FI's and shared pictures with us. We were laughing and crying and enjoying good coffee for hours and hours. I'm going to be up going through his pictures for a few more hours. He tracked down a lot of the kids I got to love on and they've grown up soo much. :)

Best friend #2 is coming home from Utah tomorrow. 10 hour drive and as "the intern" she gets to do a lot of the driving. I can't wait to have time with her to hear about everything they experienced down there.

    Thanks for praying, ladies!

PRAISE - My aunt finally told my grandmother that my cousin's girlfriend is having his baby.  My cousin and his girlfriend are both 17 and just finished their junior years in high school.  The baby is due July 13 - yes, they've put off telling my grandmother since they found out in November.  It's so nice not to have that family secret hanging over us, and I know the girlfriend feels better and more accepted by the family now.

PRAYER - my dad is feeling like he's having some heart troubles again.  He had a heart attack in Nov 1992, then a bypass in Feb 1997.  They say bypasses last around 15 years, and he's at 14 and change now.  He saw his PCP today who referred him to his cardiologist, which we figured he would.  The next step is for dad to schedule an appt with his cardio.  We're all really hoping this is not going to require a second open heart surgery.  The last time was so hard and the receovery sucks...and he's 15 years older now.

PS - the heart stuff is not common knowledge to family at this point, so please don't mention it on Facebook.

My FI's grandmother is experiencing some health difficulties that might actually prevent her from attending the wedding.  When we visited her this weekend in SC we were very adament about her needing to follow doctor's orders and keep her feet elevated like he said (etc) and she is very defiant.  When we put it in terms of "if you want to come to the wedding then you have to follow the doctors orders."  It took a while but she's now saying that she's worried about not getting to go to the wedding and she wants to call the doctor to ask them to tell her AGAIN what to do (she doesn't believe her daughter / groom's aunt or her niece, who was in the room when the doctor gave her the instructions).  Anyway .... prayers for her to be healthy enough to attend the wedding, please!  It would mean the WORLD to my FI if his grandmother (who basically raised him) could actually be there.

Praise - we weren't sure if my great grandmother would be able to come to the wedding, and now it's all been worked out - my older brother is going to drive to get her on Saturday morning (2.5 hr drive), pick her in time to come to the church while everyone gets ready, and then I think she's going to stay in my bedroom that night (which is where she usually stays when she visits us).  She lives in assisted living, and my great uncle takes care of her when she's off campus, but he is unable to make it to the wedding (which makes him VERY sad, BTW) and we actually got the solution worked out this way.  SO much easier for everyone.  Thank goodness that my older brother is able to help out!!!! :-)

Praise- My foot isn't quite 100% but it's well enough that I THINK I will be able to wear the wedding shoes that I have!!!  I love the shoes, they're perfect for the dress and for me, but I was just concerned that my still-slightly-swollen right foot wouldn't be able to stand the pressure of the strap across the foot.  Well, with my prescription orthotic inserts in my shoes now, the foot seems to be coming back to normal and while it's not perfect yet, and still "wide" as far as shoe width goes, it's a LOT better than it was.  I thought for a while I'd have to wear my tennis shoes (which is the only shoe I could wear for a while!).

Praise - FI and I have been moving a lot of things  - either some of my stuff into his place, some of my stuff into storage, some of his stuff into storage, or some of his stuff into relative's house, or keep some of his stuff too --- it is a very difficult thing because we had to make all sorts of compromises and have all kinds of discussions right off the bat.  We're pushing the "moving" stuff before the wedding because if we don't, we won't realistically be living there very long before I may potentially need to move to accept a new teaching job (hopefully!!).
