Wedding Woes

s/o Grrrrrr

How many times do I need to call my insurance company and tell them that they ARE my primary insurers. I dropped my insurance through work at the end of 2011 because DK's family plan is 100% paid by his company, and I have a premium. I added Wolverine to his plan in Jan 2011 me in Jan 2012. I am calling them monthly because they keep bouncing back claims for the two of us saying that we have other primary insurance. It's been 18+ months for Wolverine, and 6+ months for me, and multiple phone calls. Why isn't this being corrected?!

I called early May to sort out some April EoB, and gave them a heads up about my May 15 surgery. Somehow these claims *still* bounced back.

Is there someone at his company he can ask?  I know in the past I've had to get someone else involved.  Sadly, I don't have that contact now.

You might also check that your file at the doc's office is updated.  I don't know how the billing works, but I know all of my first appts have primary and secondary listed then never get checked again.
  • i had the doctors offices update with the new insurance cards when we switched.

I think this is solely on the insurance company. some sort of system issue - i call, they reprocess the claims and update 2 different systems, and then somehow things revert a month later.

i don't know if DK's HR people can help. they're in Geneva. They push paperwork through, but not much beyond that.

Do you have a letter showing the date of termination of your previous insurance?  I work for a secondary insurance company and we always have to request EOBs from the primary, but if we receive a letter stating "insurance termed on 1/1/12" we're good to proceed as primary. I would keep copies on hand and just send one anytime that happens.

This. Once they had that paperwork in file, things sorted out relatively easily.
