Wedding Woes

House Hunting

Why does it have to be so stressful? I went out with the realtor and saw about 8 places yesterday. 2, maybe 3, were worth going back to with H. All of them were at the top of our price range, but were updated enough that we wouldn't have to spend extra on major renovations.

However, none of them were large enough to fit the furniture we currently own, and all of them kindof made me say "you want me to spend how much for 2 bedrooms?" I'm sortof sick over basically zeroing our accounts for a starter home, which is silly because the reason we have so much sitting in savings is because we've been planning to dump it into a house.

Meanwhile, H, based purely on the pictures I brought home, is already in love with one of the houses, to the point that in his head we already own it. He spent the whole evening looking over the (2 page) brochure, and then he took it to bed with him to read some more. SMDH.

It's a cool-ish house, though. I guess I'd love it if it were about half the price. 3 small bedrooms, 2 updated baths. Really nice--albeit small--kitchen, and a cute little sun room/breakfast nook. Solar panels, tankless waterheater, landscaped yard with a deck and huge lemon tree. No water damage though, so that might be a deal killer.

Hmo, there are a lot of trailer parks out here. A lot. And I think double wides are bigger than some of the houses I saw yesterday.

i love house hunting - although it would have been much better if we could have factored in both salaries when we moved.

FWIW, a new tankless water heater installed cost us $3600, but is basically paying for itself with the energy tax credit and gas savings.

my goal is to eventually build a house, but we're not there yet - maybe in another 10 years?

I hated house hunting.  I don't think Mr. Kuus and I ever fought more in the whole time we've been together.

Nothing says "awesome" like an inhome, in ground pool (flooded basement).

I love that this says "4" and there is nothing here.  I *just* responded to this post.  Piece of crap, TK.

Most stressful thing ever.  It's a lot of money and a lot of time commitment.

Well, you could always make your own water damage if you had to.
