I should have made one of the poll options "immediately scream to a room of about 20 relatives 'I'm going to be a grandmother!'"

Typically birthdays in my family mean a quiet dinner and cake with immediate family only. Apparently this year one of my cousins decided to have a party for my mom, and I had no idea. So, I intended to tell my parents and sister early, and let everyone else know in a couple months. Looks like the cat's out of the bag, though. I'm still keeping it off facebook, but I figure it's only a matter of time before someone else posts about it for me.

Yikes.  I would've been really upset, but I guess you can't change the situation anyways.

This is weird and bumpish. I had to go to Target to pick up a perscirption right after I called my mom. While I was waiting for it to be filled, I tried on clothes and fell in love with a tight, totally non-maternity top. I told myself it was stupid to buy a shirt that will only fit me for maybe 3 months. Then I talked myself into it by telling myself that it would counteract the bad mojo of everyone knowing too early.

You may be surprised how long you can fit into your regular shirts.  

One of my favorite shirts to wear during pregnancy was not a maternity shirt.  It was a 3/4 sleeve tunic style shirt I bought at NY&Co. a couple years ago. 

Oh and my mom and dad called everyone they knew when we told them we were expecting.  After my mom jumped up and down and cried.

i purchased very little maternity wear, but i'm all about the empire waists.

i also wore the same flipflops from march until the day i went into the hospital, but ymmv.

I'll be the lone dissenter: I had to buy new pants at 8 weeks. And I kept buying new tops, because as soon as I found one that fit, my boobs would grow again. I went through a shitton of clothes while pregnant.

At least maternity stuff will fit you, so yay for new clothes!
