Wedding Woes

Re: Single parenthood = child abuse

  • WTELMF?

  • I read the article this morning.

Guess it's better to have your kid grow up with battling parents and feeling like it's their fault, feeling insecure, and generally icky than to raise them in a non-combative environment which would promote them to be strong, independent and HAPPY people.

  • I saw that last week.  I just have to *smh*.
  • i want to know how single mothers outnumber single fathers - biologically the numbers should be almost equal (i'll take out sperm donors since they are probably not aware of when their donations result in a child)

so if a single mother caring for her child = abuse
a single father not caring for his child = neglect?

don't we all nkow that calling women abusive failures will make them....wait, what are we trying to get them to do again? to stay in failed marraiges and/or marry their BFs?
    It'll make them do that.
ANd miraculously, the ills of the world will be better.

After all, my mom was better served by grandma  remaining married to the deabeat estranged grandpa than single, right?  right?  A dude who comes home occasionally to knock up his wife, steal food and beat his kids is the plan.
  • barbie, there are only 4 men in the world.

  • Y'know, I just finished reading this sci-fi book (not Handmaiden's Tale) where all of the rights of women were rolled back b/c they were too dumb to take care of themselves.

Soon, we're going to start seeing "Females, the root of all evil" as a common place slogan or "Too dumb to take care of themselves" bills.  I'm tired of it.

and somehow they're all politicians, go figure.

since we outnumber them by so much, maybe we need to stop electing the menfolk.
  • Varuna - What book was that? Sounds interesting.
  • http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/285563.Native_Tongue and that should hook into my review if you're interested in reading my thoughts on it.

It's the first of the trilogy.  I've read the first two. I might read the final one someday, but I"m not totally interested in it.  Maybe as a,"Oh, I've always meant to read this" pickup.  Right now, I want to get to my Hugo book reading list, so it's on the back burner,  I don't think I even bothered to review the 2nd one.
