Incorporating our dog into the reception…HELP!!

My FH and I would LOVE to incorporate our dog into our reception (via pictures), because she’s like our child!! We can’t have her at the ceremony or reception locations, so we figure we could include her some other way.

We really wanted to do 80’s songs as the table names (we wanted something more than 1, 2, etc.), but then my FH suggested we take pictures of our dog with a sign of the song and use that on the table. I personally feel like it’s a little much to have that much going on, because it will make it difficult for people to see what the table name is. So needless to say, we are now trying to figure out if we should still use pictures of our dog on the tables, or keep the 80’s songs. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how we could incorporate our dog so that we are still able to use the 80’s songs and have her as a part of our reception?!?

  • I just hate the idea of doing 1, 2, etc...
  • Pics of numbers with animals is pretty popular around here, and I think its a cute way to include your fur baby.  Also, maybe you could find a cake topper that also included a dog....so it was the three of you, since she is like your baby.
  • My DD and SIL made a book using shutterfly and had a lot of pictures of them with their dogs, their family, their friends.  Then people signed, yearbook style, and it was their guest book.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • 1) Take an easily recognizeable screenshot from an '80s music video
    2) Photoshop in your dog
    3) Prominently label the picture "Track #: Song Name" so people don't get confused.

    Ta-da!
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    That's an awesome idea!

  • I like the idea of a pic of your fur-kid holding a number and using that as the table numbers.  If the "sign" is big enough it'll be easy to see.

I am considering putting pics of my fur-kid in our slide show!!!  I'm sure some Non-dog people will think that is silly, but all of my friends and family know how crazy I am about my dog and they won't even be surprised to see him included!!!  : )

  • I am doing pictures with my dog wearing the numbers/next to the numbers.  They turned out great!  Just make sure the numbers you're using are big.  Aso, making the pictures black and white seemed to make our numbers pop out better.  I went to Kohls and bought a bunch of 4x6 silver picture frames that were $4-5.  The numbers are definitely visible/big enough to see when the pictures are 4x6.  I can't wait, it's a unique touch and a good way to incorporate our pet.  My fiance doesn't know that I did this, but he's going to love it when he sees it at the wedding!

  • Here are a couple more, I did a bunch of different poses.  It should be fun for the guests when they're looking for their table.  The veil (which made me laugh) was something I found in the wedding aisle at Michael's.  I'm not a photographer by any means, but I like how they turned out.
