One of my bridesmaids wants to make a speech, and I am a little nervous to what she wants to say. Sometimes her humour can be a bit crass and makes up elaborate funny stories. People who know her know she is making things up to be funny but those who don't. I have tired to defuse this by emphaszing that we are not having the entire wedding party speak just the maids of honour, best man, parents and ourselves. She just kept reassuring me she only needed a minute, so we have agreed to the minute. I just don't know how to be reassured that she will keep things clean so to speak. Last year at my cousins wedding, her speeches were full of sex jokes, fart jokes and potty talk, not to mention demonstrations. It got to the point of being embarassing for the guests and I certainly don't want that for our wedding.
With that being said where do I insert this speech.... should I have her start the speeches? and then in what order do the rest of us speak. I have been to so many different weddings with so many variations on the speeches. So what is the typical order of things?
