Mother Daughter reception idea?

Since we do the father daughter dance, any ideas for a mother daughter ritual at a reception?

  • Everyone who knows me knows in what manner I was raised and my grandmother will be standing up with my mom to give me away, not all families are so "normal" anymore LoL. Do what you feel is right and enjoy it!

  • I am in the same boat with the woman above this post. My mother has always been there for me, therefore I will honor her with a mother/daughter dance. We are also dancing to mama's song by carrie underwood :)

It won't "look weird". I'd rather honor someone who actually acted as a parent rather than let my dad dance with me just because he's a dad.

  • Well I was going to dance with each of my parents separately.  Hope it'll flow nicely.

  • I'm singing "The Best Day" to my mom at the reception. :)

  • I'm close to both my parents and wanted to do something to honor my mom without taking away from the "Father/Daughter" moment so I decided that I'll do the father/daughter dance in the beginning as normal, and then later on suprise my mom by "dedicating" a song to her and have her come dance with me, as well as all the other mother/daughters that are there. Just an idea. :)
  • Thanks, that helps, and def no wedding party dance so that cuts it down a bit.  It'll only be groom/mother, bride/father, and bride/groom but I like the idea of surprising my mom later in the night!

  • my mom is walking me down the aisle since she raised me.  I am also looking to honor her at the reception. I am going to make a toast to her with a speech thanking her for evernthing she has done and for her example to me as a woman, wife and in the future a mother to my own children.
