I had 4 months to plan a wedding, and I think I went overboard (and overbudget!!). I picked a gorgeous venue that I made sure had fantastic food. I booked Samba dancers (my FI is Brazilian) for some cultural flavor, to balance out my tea ceremony (I am Chinese). i booked a photo booth (on a groupon!) for the cocktail hour so the guests could have photos taken while the bridal party were doing the same.
And now as the RSVPs come in, I didn't even think that on such short notice at the end of the year, most family and friends from overseas (75% of the guest list!!) had already booked and used up their vacation, or can't make it for another reason.
So out of 170, my guest estimate is 50 (which is sad, but okay I guess, since the price per head is outrageously expensive). My question is, there are a few of my guests (especially ALL of my bridal party) that think a wedding is nothing an amazing dance party. But has anyone seen a great dance party with a mixed crowd of 50 people (half of which may go home early as they have young children)? I know people follow the attitude of the bride and groom, but if my day starts early, I don't even know how long i can dance for! But if I DON'T have a dance, then my original plan (to have the Samba dancers out to bring the energy and open up the dancing) would flop. The samba dancers would bring the energy and then....we eat dessert?
I also plan to have a game (as un-nerdy as I can possibly find)---most Asians love, and expect games. Is this too much going on?? Should I have a DJ?
Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
