Seating for a afternoon wedding

The reseption hall has an indoor area and a outdoor area, if we have tables for everyone there will be people outside (we have tents all areas are going to be decorated.)
We are not going to have a sit down meal its going to be lots of fingerfoods and cupcakes instead of cake. Theres not going to be alchool.

we are thinking of starting the ceramony at 2 and the reseption at 3

If we have all guest sit at tables there will be alot of people outside  and then people inside as well there is not room for all the tables to be all outside or all inside.

I feel that if I went to a wedding and got stuck sitting outside I'd feel exscluded. I feel that it might be better to not have tables for everyone, we would put chairs along the wall so there would be a chair for everyone just not seat at a table.

  • It's a pain in the rear to have to balance a plate of food and a drink cup in your hand, especially if you're also trying to hold a purse. Plus, if people are lucky enough to get a table seat at the beginning of the reception, I would bet that they're not going to budge from that seat all night for fear of losing it to someone else.

I would seat everyone at a table ... if people feel like they're excluded outside, they'll come inside and mingle. Better to have a seat at a table than to be outside, I say.

  • Ditto, I find it uncomfortable to eat (even cupcakes and finger foods) without any flat surface in front of me.  That means I've got to carry my purse/bag as well as balance my plate and my drink while finding a seat, sitting down, and managing to set everything down.  Those that are lucky enough to get tables probably won't want to give them up, reducing the chances that they'll mingle or even stay that long.

    Just seat everyone at tables.
