We're both typically chill, low-key people who are very family oriented but still love a good party. So far we decided on a small, intimate ceremony for immediate family and a few super-close cousins, friends etc. We wanted to do a "backyard babrbecue" style dinner (around 6ish) immediately after for the ceremony guests and cocktail party after that (which would run 9-12ish and to which we would invite many more people). What I'm struggling with is where to put the first dances, toasts, and the cake. I'm assuming the older generation (our grandparents) won't even go to the cocktail party, and I wouldn't want them to miss it -- so I'm pretty sold on doing all that at dinner. However, I'm sure some guests will attend both the dinner and the party and i wouldn't want it to be redundant for them seeing/doing everything twice? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
