Okay ladies, I am just beginning the earliest stages of wedding planning, and have only seen one venue in person so far. The thing is, I like the idea of a more classic, formal wedding, mostly because I keep thinking, when else will I have the chance to have such a formal event with the people most important to me? My concern is that this "prettiness" and formality added to a relatively unfamiliar place will make the whole thing feel too...phoney, and not like "us". There are several venues in the area that I love (in the Louisville/Southern Indiana area), but none of them really have special significance or meaning to us. Basically, I'm afraid the place, expensive or not, will take away from the whole point of the day, and make it feel more like a "show" than a celebration of our commitment. Is this an unnecessary worry? Will it feel like "our" place when it's "our" day? Do I just need to try to incorporate plenty of "personal" touches into the decor, etc.?
