Games

Hi Ladies,

Are you doing any games at your reception? If so, what did you do?

Re: Games

  • We're not doing any kind of games except for a small kids coloring table. We have an absolutely fabulous DJ lined up and that should entertain our guests.

  • Drinks, good food, dancing... that should be enough to entertain people not to mention conversation.

People are adults at this party, no? I see no need to dictate social function.
  • I'm negative on the games at a reception
  • Sorry I meant to clarify bride and groom games. I was thinking along the lines of the groom being blindfolded then you would have different people lined up and he has to feel 5 or 6 people's hands and guess which one is his bride.

I guess that's a game right? Yes there are adults and kids too. I personally don't think it's necessary to have games but was just curious if you ladies are planning to do it or not.
  • No games for us, between dancing, food, and the photo booth with fun props there will be more than enough..but we do have fun games picked for my bridal shower :-)

We're having a backyard wedding, so there will be croquet and possibly horseshoes too. And a photobooth with a Fujifilm Instax camera.

ETA read the blindfold thing, uh no. We're not tossing a bouquet or garter either.

Might sound weird, but we really want our reception to be fun- so we're renting a karaoke machine and asking guests to come up and tell funny stories about the bride or groom or both, and we intend to sing- along in groups and dance and just have lots of fun as well, My FI is a great singer, and I know he plans to serenade me with a special song too :)
  • No games for us, just at the kids table. We bought two FindIt games from Barnes & Noble to keep the kids entertained. There will also be coloring books and crayons. Mind you, we only have about 6 children attending our wedding, though.

  • The only Bride/Groom game I've seen at a reception was where they stood back to back and had one of their shoes and one of the other persons shoes in their hands. The DJ asked them questions like "Who will take out the trash?" and they had to hold up the person's shoe who was their answer. Like if the Bride thought Groom for taking out the trash, she'd hold up his shoe.

It was pretty funny but we won't be doing anything like that at ours.
  • I agree with midge... that game was HILARIOUS to watch our friends play and it was short enough to be entertaining and keep all audience members entertained.
