Since I have been to only one wedding I have no idea how it works...ceremonie..pictures..cocktail..first dance..dinner...the garter...the bouquet..what is the right order?? I'm I forgetting anything??
That is pretty standard, but lots of people do things differently. For instance we are doing our pictures before the ceremony so we can go straight to the cocktail hour and not miss any of it... but a lot of people don't want to see each other before the ceremony. If you are getting married at a place that does a lot of weddings, they can help you a lot with the schedule. I have found the other vendors (ie. Photographer, DJ) have been really helpful with those sort of details!
I agree with the PP--alot will depend on how you want to schedule the pictures and also that there are no hard and fast rules here. If your venue has a planner, they can help you, along with your DJ and/or photographer. But FWIW, here was ours:
Reveal (this is where the B&G see each other before the ceremony, also called a first look) Wedding party pictures (if you are not doing a first look, you can still do the WP pics that don't have both of you in them) Ceremony Cocktail hour/B&G pictures (if you didn't see each other before the ceremony, wedding party pictures go here) B&G announced B&G first dance Welcome (this could also be a blessing)/buffet opens Dinner Cake cutting and toasts (1 hour after dinner) Dancing (first dance can also be done here/other spotlight dances can go here) Garter/bouquet (1 hour after cake/toasts) Dancing B&G private last dance Exit/reception ends (where I live, receptions usually end after 4 hours--if you have the time and want to stay until everyone leaves, you can just keep it going and don't do an exit)
We're having a plated dinner, so instead of doing toasts afterwards, toasts will be made between courses. Also, we plan on having our first dance after dinner, and cutting our cake right after we're announced. So those are some other options for the agenda
