Satin or Polyester Tablecloths??

I am just wondering what will look better for tablecloths, satin or polyester tablecloths? Our colors are ivory with an apple green runner.

I was just wondering what would look nicer since I don't recall being to a wedding with satin tablecloths. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Re: Satin or Polyester Tablecloths??

  • First off, polyester is the fiber that fabric is made from while satin is a weave, so isn't the satin option polyester anyway? It's hard to say when you don't mention the weave of the other option- is it broadcloth? It's like asking if you should serve linguine or pasta.
What would look best would be to have a difference in texture between the tablecloth and the runner- preferably a matte tablecloth and a runner with just a bit of sheen.
  • Go with the polyester.

Wow, I didn't need you to try to ridicule me on the fact that I didn't specify to your needs. BTW, as we are considering purchasing linens, the websites do name the material as either polyester or satin. And you're right, so don't try to send another reply trying to sound even smarter.

What I was asking ~ do tablecloths that are satin, as in shiny, smooth material, look better than a polyester weave that is NOT shiny, that is typically named 'standard linens' at the event rental stores.
  • I say go with the polyester to save some money and maybe have the satin runner for some pop.
cqbride:  Calm down!  Why would you be so rude about a simple question?  Now I'm going to be rude to you.....I see that you have been registered on this site for three years and have made over 1000 posts GET A LIFE!!!!

lbatog:  Good luck!!  I'm sure any choice that you make will be perfect!
  • Thank you Rachael! Tablecloths are one of those details I have never payed attention to when I attend weddings....I always remember the dresses though!
