Would escort cards for a flowing reception be over the top?

Hello! This is my first post. :) My wedding is a little over a month away and I'm starting to get overwhelmed with all the little details!

Some background: 250 invited. We expect maybe 150 to show. We will have seating for 135 at one time. It was difficult to decide how many tables to order since we don't know how many guests are coming, and how many will stay for the whole reception. (I live in Utah, where the majority of guests are used to a reception where you drop in, wait in line to meet the bridal party, have a small dessert and go home.)

So would escort cards be a terrible idea? I don't have a seating chart- but I thought it might be a nice touch for people to be able to mark their seats. The trick would be making sure they remove their escort card if they leave. I always pictured a very formal sit down dinner, but I just couldn't afford it. Is this an acceptable way to add a little extra class, or am I being pretentious and over-reaching?
