Black and White decorations while on a budget

I am planning a black and white wedding.  I don't want to spend too much money on flowers so I'm trying to thinkof alternatives.  I am not interested in baloons.  The only thing I've come up with so far is feathers...seeing as though I want to have black feathers in my bouquet.

Any ideas?

  • Black and white is a great combo, and very popular right now.  It can be very versatile, but I think it helps to have a splash of color.

Personally, I don't think feathers end up saving you any money, and don't really add much color, like flowers would.

I think the cheapest route is to to with simple, inexpensive, DIY flowers.

I helped a friend of my daughter's with her wedding flowers.  We got all the flowers (in bulk from Sam's Club) for about $200.00.  There was enough for 9 bouquets, 13 bouts, 5 corsages, 2 arrangements, and enough left over for some simple centerpieces (bud vases on some tables, and loose flowers and greenery around some pillar candles).  We just had to keep it simple. She used gerbers, alstromerias, mini carnations, a few pom poms, 2 dozen roses, and a little greenery.
  • Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you don't already know, but feathers are very expensive.  I was wanting to do the feather thing too until I started researching it and found out how much they were.  Not trying to burst your bubble, but just trying to fill you in.  GL!
