Re: DW Fitness Challenge: Check-in

  • Hey Megan! I somehow managed to get all 4 workouts in, and I didn't eat any fast food at all. I haven't weighed myself this week yet. Just a suggestion, but I think the winners should be whoever completes the challenge for the week, as opposed to lbs lost for the week. Especially since we're working out, a lot of us won't be losing a ton of weight each week due to muscle gain/water retention from rebuilding muscles. And plus, the challenge was to work out 4 times this week...not lose so many pounds. It would mean that we have more than one winner each week though. Just a suggestion. Everyone can tell me to shove it if they don't like it :)
  • Plus, I think it's good to stay focused on the positive. So we should be celebrating that we got in 4 workouts and not berating ourselves for not losing any weight. So I think having the winners be whoever succeeded in the challenge is better than whoever lost the most weight.
  • You are 100% right Ali!  I think that's what we're going for with regard to the winner!  :)  My icon buddy dude is waiting for a winner!!!!
  • Hey!  I did good this week!  I really like the motivation...thanks again for starting this! I did 5 workouts plus took my dog hiking for an hour a day three times this week!  I don't eat fast food so that wasn't a problem but I did avoid cheese and eating too much bread!
  • Thanks for the suggestion Ali - I clearly have no idea what I'm doing. Haha. :) So you're saying anyone who completed 4x workout and didn't eat fast food more then once should get the siggy icon? I had been thinking of doing by lbs lost + challenge. So if 5 girls lost 1lb then the girl with the most workouts etc would win. But I have no clue. What are other people's thoughts? I want to be incredibly fair and am proud of everyone for sticking to the challenges. If we do based on challenges - I need to make week's two a bit more clear.

  • I guess for me personally, this challenge is more about getting into the habit of working out..and not about losing weight. It's easier for me to focus on one thing at a time (like working out 4x/week) rather than have a bunch of goals in one week (like working out 4x a week plus losing the most weight). Plus Tracy has the weight loss challenge, which is weight-based, so it seems kind of redundant. But my thinking could be way off base from everyone else, in which case you can ignore me and I'll do the challenge without focusing on my weight :)
  • I'm okay with whatever everyone wants to do but I do like Alison's idea about rewarding workouts instead of weight loss. Last year I lost quite a bit of weight through really hard work but it took a month and a half of regular workouts before I saw any real progress! It was almost discouraging at times but I stuck to it and it paid off!Maybe getting the crown for workouts would be better as most people will probably only lose a pound or so a week anyway!
  • So many of you talk about doing the shred, I want to pick one up. Where is the least expensive place to buy it? TIA
  • Marci - if you can wait a couple of days for shipping, try Amazon.  I've seen it for $5 or $6 before.  Target usually has it as well, and I want to say it's under $10 there as well.
    Anniversary
  • MARCI!!! I can't believe you would even ask that question!!!  TARGET...............  Hands down!
  • So does the crown go to people who worked out the most? Example some girls did 7 days or 6 or 5 even though the challenge was only 4?

  • P.S., didn't wanna DD, but I hate it when I don't edit my posts!  I had way too many "as well's" in there.  :)
    Anniversary
  • I did alright this week... I did get 4 workouts in, but not as intense as I usually do.... I have a raging sinus infection which is in my chest. As for fast food, I haven't ate any since June!!! I am so proud of myself for that! Although I do crave a whopper sometimes, oh and McDonald's french fries!!!

  • Thanks ladies! Just what I need, another excuse to head to Target.. Hahaha
  • I think its a great idea. Do you think that we should make a smaller icon for our siggys?? ... sometimes our siggys with tickers and challenges can get kind of giant. After everyone checks in we can see who worked out 4x and limited fast food... then they can all put it in? i like that idea a LOT!
  • I agree that it'll be too big and if that's the case Sarah, I'll re-do the siggy challenge dude icon I made..... I'll try to make it smaller!  :)I'll forward it to Meghan when I'm done and I'll let her decide on whether she wants to keep the previous one I made or the new one.  We're not quite sure how we're going to do the challenge winner, but I'm thinking she'll go with the majority on this one.  :)
  • I think that whoever succeeds in the challenge (so for instance this week whoever worked out at least 4 times and only ate fast food once ) should get a siggy icon. So those of use who worked out 4, 5, 6 times this week...we would all get icons.
  • New fitness challenge winner icon on the blog.  Let me know what you think!!!  :)
